1998 SUbaru Legacy Outback - 30th Anniversary Limited Edition

Ive bought this wagon back in Feb of 2010.

First couple of weeks, it drove well, no forseen issues. After those several weeks we started finding patches of oil under the car. Found out it was leaking oil. Didnt really look into that for a bit because we had been super busy at the time.

Then in June, I woke up one morning to find the Outback (or I should say NOT find the Outback) where I had parked it!!! Someone stole my ish!!! Made a police report, waited a couple weeks, it didnt show up. Received a letter from my insurance company telling me that since I did not have comprehensive (which they talked me out of when I first added insurance), they were not going to be sending me any money... which i was already expecting. So I lived a few weeks getting over my outback and back to sharing the STi with Ed, racking miles up on it :(

I got a call a month later from a friend who drives a tow truck asking me if my Outback had a Subigirls vinyl on it. I immediatly jumped up and ran out the door asking him where did he see it! Found it abandoned about 4 streets down from my old place! Thanks WPD for doing such a dilligent job recovering stolen cars in our city!

Only thing that was taken from it was my momo shift knob, my vanity mirror cover, and a couple bootleg burnt from my computer CD's... idiots... assholes, douchebags, etc, etc....

So now back to my Outback with the leaking oil issues. Found out that it was leaking oil from the oil pump, valve cover gasket, and the rear main seal!
Eventually it starting smoking, and two weeks ago it sputtered out on me as I was leaving my driveway. Time to take it apart! Ed took the motor out in 3 hours, yayy Ed!! To find that I had been putting too much oil in it and the intake was full of oil! (will post the pics later) No wonder it died, it couldn't breathe!! So he decided to put in the other legacy motor we have. He replaced all of the gaskets except for the head gaskets, which looked to be in good condition. This motor looked much cleaner and in much beter shape than mine. Couple days later I get a call from my Man, telling me well, i got the motor in, started it up, and found a bad oil leak in the rear main seal!! waaaaahhhhh! Now Im ready to cry! I want my car!! So now he has to take the motor back out, remove the clutch and flywheel to replace the rear main seal. So another week with no car... Im just aggravated with it, I wanna puch it down a cliff at this point  And my poor baby has been working hard on his days off to try and fix this thing... Lets keep our fingers crossed hoping that this is the last time he has to remove the motor again!!

So heres a few pics of the outback. I have to attach them cuz Im at work and SSA blocks everything!

Haha I think I remember posting this somewhere before but I am a contractor for SSA and YES THEY BLOCK EVERYTHING. Wait til they change the banner at the top to say "Scoobies for Boobies" this site will be blocked for "porn" lol.

I am sorry to hear about your car. 1. I am so happy you did find it and 2. Your man rocks for helping you out :) Good luck!

And ya I was surprised last yr that they didnt block it, cuz we did have a banner last Oct. A few people in my office came and asked me why was I posting stuff about boobies all over the place! lol it was to advertise the pancake breakfast fundraiser that we had set up, but it was pretty funny seeing peoples faces!

Crazy story Mon. You need some smaller Subie Girls decals on your car now. :)

Good luck with the rear main seal!

Ya the Outback;s been drama from day one lol... Ya I need two small vinyls now, I have to get on that... I removed the banner after the car was stolen, I didnt didnt want those douchebags to se me around again, and no one could miss that banner! lol

That pic was taken at the spring Kanc cruise 2010 at one of the rest stops. It ws a gorgeous resivoir. We cruised away from the lot to find a good photo spot and we did, it was hidden in the opposite side of the lot... :D

While I am not all that wild about the white / beige two-tone colours, it is a fine car and in much better shape than my 170,000 mile black / gold pin-stripe / beige 1997 Outback.

I am pleased you got your car back with so few missing items. You really lucked out there.

Any long term modifications planned ?

Yayyy The Outbacks up and running! Feels and sounds wayy better than the original motor! :)

Tx Jonathan, and pshh 170k is nothing on my 201k!! ;) I was actually telling my friend the other day that I wished I had a black on gold one! I like that color scheme, my color scheme is a dime a dozen, they are everywhere! No long term plans for it, I plan on getting a newer car next yr and we're going to keep this as the winter beater for as long as it lasts.
