I love my XV6800 - iphone not good enough for me *harumph*.

just kidding - some things on it are pretty cool. I would consider getting a touch though before an iphone - mostly the same right? I mean, what is lacking? The phone capabilities correct?

iTouch = iPhone without the phone... yup

i like my blackberry... i've seen quite a few people with cracked iPhones. they just seem too fragile for us less-than-100%-careful people.

i agree... you do want to be careful when you own them. i dont like having just a touch screen personally... different strokes for different folks!

The problem sounds like it's your friend, not the phone...

AT&T just today announced VoIP is now allowable on the iPhone. So that means drop your minute plan to the lowest possible and use Skype for everything!

I've had mine for awhile now. I didn't have internet on my last phone (really that's why I wanted the iPhone so bad). Now that it is MMS capable it is one of my favorite gadgets.

Hmmm... I may have to look into this but I'm almost positive I have the least amount of minutes anyway. Also... ATT has that "favorites" thing now where you can put other phone services as part of your unlimited minutes. People should see if there plans qualify them for it.

Yeah, I have the minimum minutes allowable by AT&T right now. Sometimes I get a whole bunch of rollover minutes, other times I use a whole bunch of rollover minutes. I won't have to worry about it though, plus who knows how well VoIP will work on ATTs 3g network.

And on a side note, might want to start sucking up as much data as you can because there may be caps or new data plans for XX per month soon...

http://gizmodo.com/5377146/hey-iphone-users-get-ready-for-data-caps

So you've got the FCC, to whom you've just made a very public concession, on your back. How do you remind the world, and your regulators, that you're still totally over net neutrality? From AT&T's CEO, a case study.

PCWorld caught Ralph de la Vega making a few, um, intimations at CTIA yesterday. First, a setup, in which he describes an actual problem:

He cited AT&T research showing that just 3 percent of AT&T's smartphone customers use 40 percent of all smartphone data

So, iPhone users! They use data! Then he adds some connective tissue, to draw a possible—and disagreeable—solution to the problem into view:

Without the proper management of these networks, De la Vega said, regular data users will be "crowded out" by the small number of users who use massive amounts of data.

Finally, he repeatedly drives the point home that the problem is the fault of greedy users, not his company:

"We have to manage the network to make sure that the few cannot crowd out the many," De la Vega continued. He said the words "crowded out" at least five times in that part of his keynote address.

Never mind the fact that the iPhone has been out since 2007, and that AT&T has has since the first month of returned usage data to figure out what to do about increased demand for wireless data services. All in all, this is just a reminder: AT&T's choice to allow VoIP communications over its 3G network was huge, sure, but it was a strategic move to fend off the FCC, not a sign that they're happy about cooperating in the future, especially when it comes to the really data-intensive stuff, like SlingPlayer or now-even-more-conspicuously-absent iPhone tethering.

In other words, it'd be a stretch to say that "managing the network" is going to be a transparent process—we're going to have to pay, probably through new data rates or tiered plans. [PCWorld]

I don't think I use enough to be "capped" but I'll be mad if this damn phone costs me more money. BS I say... BS.

Who knows right now, it's all just speculation and guessing. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they put in new data plans.

There are already "soft caps" put in place. i.e. if you keep going over 5gigs of usage every month ATT will flag your account and be like "um excuse me, wtf u think ur doin?" I was tethering for a while and hit a little over 3gigs one month haha. On a normal basis though I blow through one or two gigs of data every month. I stream Pandora every day and watch YouTube videos a lot, plus if I'm in traffic or something I'm on the webernets. It adds up fast! :)

I should check my data usage. While I have the Pandora app, I don't use it (I don't use too many apps on a regular basis). And yes, Sarah can has MMS (FINALLY). :D
