Yes...I was busy this weekend.
I decided to paint my calipers as a quick thing that would take only a couple of hours. I chose the kit that didn't make you take them off and was a brush on.
http://i882.photobucket.com/albums/ac23/wrxgrl09/TheCars048.jpg
It provided you with the paint, brake cleaner, etc.
Since my WRX is pretty new, my calipers were very clean. I had minimal cleaning time. During cleaning...tape off all rubber and plastic.

Follow all directions for the paint-since it has a reactive agent.

I did two coats.

I was very happy with the way they came out. We shall see what happens after time and wear and tear.

:) nice!!!
I'd need yellow, but I'm thinking of just upgrading to FHI STi calipers when I need to do my brakes. I also heard from a guy at a local paint store that putting a hard clear coat on your calipers or anything else that gets super hot will keep the paint from chipping off. That's in case you can't find caliper/engine paint in the colour you want. I have yet to try this but I know caliper paint doesn't come in sonic yellow, nor have I ever seen purple.

I'm thinking that when I do my brakes soon I'm going to need new calipers. Maybe I'll paint them first before they go on the car...

Nick is re-doing his brakes slowly and going to repaint them before they go on the car. we read the destructions on the website and it said you cant drive for 24hrs. but you can put the wheels back on after 2... fine for me... but for him that's difficult.
xxthat girlxx
03-16-2011, 04:19 PM
But if I paint before they even go on the car and they dry for 24hrs I'll be fine.
Actually, I may upgrade to 06/07 2/4 pot calipers if I can find a decent deal.

yeah... i say nick is slowly doing his brake redo because he is collecting parts haha... we're wheelin and dealin here... never pay full price for much that goes on his car... or even pay anything hahahaha

G2 makes the best paint kit for calipers imo. the duplicolor one sucks. it chips too easy.
