i didnt know where else to post this..
SO, my scoobie needed a tow and i had mentioned to the tow truck driver that it was an AWD so that it couldnt be towed with just two wheels up in the air. "ill take care of that", he said. i went into my house because it was bloody cold (-30 deg C). i was spying on him from my room (shouldnt have..should have made it quite visible that I WAS WATCHING) i saw him raise scoobie, front end up first. i ran to get my camera, came back...AND HE WAS GONE!
not cool. so now im not sure whether or not he was too lazy to put my scoobie on dollies (seriously, who works that fast?) so now im hoping to get some tips from the subiegirls community of ways to check whether or not my drivetrains been EFFED up. how do i know?! thanks all.
super angry/unhappy,

I wouldn't have let him touch your car till they came out with a flat bed. When I request a tow I specifically ask for a flatbed tow.
I used to work for AAA Roadside assistance taking the calls for the emergency center. Taking the calls for when you need a tow etc... and that's one of the first things we asked is if your car was AWD/4WD. Cause that would determine what type of truck we'd send out.
No help on being able to tell you if your drivetrain is messed up. Someone else can point you better in that direction.
I would definitely call the tow company and ask why they didn't tow your car properly though.
Go to the tow place and ask to see the tow record. They are supposed to record what type of truck they used to tow you. Was it a flatbed truck that came to get it? or The harnessed tow truck?

Not good! Like PinkTWRX I used to deal with tows, though for rental cars. One time I messed up and didn't ask what kind of car it was and it turned out to be an AWD Explorer, the tow driver was awesome and caught it when he got down there and refused to tow them, so they had to wait an extr 2hrs because of road conditions. Sucked, but at least the driver wasn't stupid enough to tow it regaurdless.
Always request a flat bed and take your car to a shop to be checked, tell them what happened so they can specifically look at the drivetrain. Also as Mon pointed out they should have a discription of the tow equiptment used, flatbed, harness, dolies, ect. Hopefully he is just really good at his job and got it supported riht before taking off.

Always always always tell then you need a flatbed to tow an AWD car. Ask for the tow record and have them pay for whatever inspection a dealer/mechani needs to. And then have them pay for whatever repairs may need to be done.
Good luck!

i totally did ask for one.
BUT, its all good. i called the shop early morning yesterday and asked if dollies were charged. the nice lady said, "yes" and i also asked her to check my mileage just to make sure. PLUS the shop manager saw my scoobs roll in (but not with his own wheels) :)
thanks all for the tips.

I'd wait until you actually get it back and drive it before you assume everything is OK. I mean everyone knows how honest tow truck companies are, right?

Hate to agree with Rick, but I do. Not everyone is as truthful as they should be. It's easier to charge something but not actually have used them. Have the center dif checked, since that would be were the problem would be (according to my hubby) if they towed it wrong. Though he also thinks that if it's a manual you shouldn't have a problem (this made no sense to me though), as long as it wasn't in gear. ::shrug::
Hope they really did tow it properly though.

Yep I know from personal experience. The STi had gotten towed one day and the dude didnt even put the boards down to pull it up, so we WITNESSED the car being scrapped on the flat bed's diamond metal bed!!! When we get to the tow yard we notice that one of the STI Bumper Spoilers was hanging off. SO we went and looked for the tow truck and toojk pics of the blue paint scraps on the bed. We asked for the manager, waited an hour and a half, and he told us to "kick rocks!!" or sue him and stated that "I have never lost a court battle, I'm friends with most of the Judges" SO we decided to make a complaint with the BBB, which was useless as well, cuz the owner kept lying and not taking responsibility stating that the damages were there prior to the tow... and it just became a battle of words back and forth, so no resolution from them. Please dont anyone have your car towed by Cranston & son's in West Boylston MA. And please make sur that you dont let them do ISH to your car if you do not agree with it. GL
