So...I have about a month until my WRX will be ready, and I already have a list of subtle appearance mods I'd like to do.

In no specific order:

Roof rack
Mudflaps
Window tint
Painted lug nuts
Painted subie emblems

What non-engine mods did you complete first on your subies? Any regrets? Any you couldn't live without?

Any mods can still be pricey. Do you mean non-performance mods?

Non-performance mods:
shift knob
spray painted hazard button
vinyl
hellas
wheels
all weather floor mats
STi hood scoop
roof rack in winter
mud flaps
painted rocker panels
soon to be new headlight covers
fumoto valve <--------------- some of the best money I've spent on my car

I'm sure I'm forgetting some....

Yeah, I won't be doing any performance mods. Shopping for gifts for your car can get expensive, your right...but it's fun!

hmm well I love my Hella horns, I use em all the time :D hahaha

and I really wish I had some all weather floor mats. Those will saaaave you!!

Also, I dunno what you're thinking, but if I bought a *BRAND NEW* car, I'd get the clear vinyl put on the front end and the mirrors. It'll protect you from rock chips and keep your car looking fresh for a whiiiile. But that's just my opinion.

I'm gonna say hellas and all weather mats for sure. Those are the first two things we put in any new car we get.

Also we always swap in a better aftermarket radio. Cause we want to run our iPod/phones but that's just our personal choice.

one of my favorite non-performance mods for my car was my front lip.

it was $65 off of ebay and has lasted 3+ years. it's been through the war and still going strong.

other stuff:
wheels
black lugs
subiegirl decals ;)
debadging
04/05 taillights
painted my mirrors from black -> wrb
speakers, head unit, subwoofers, & amp

Good idea. Would this be something a tint shop would do?

Oh, that reminds me. I'd like to switch out the stock radio for an in dash navigation system. Anyone here done that? Have recommendations?

You all got me thinking...thanks. Yes, the all weather mats are a must, I ordered them with the car, along with the trunk liner and the 120v outlet (thought that may come in handy when camping, at least).

hmm I dunno about a tint place. I know it is sometimes an option from the dealership. But maybe a places that do car Details and Paint have it

Maybe look around google in your area for places that do "Clear Bras" or "Clear Paint Protection Film". Or see if your dealership does it or knows of a recommendation.

My car came with a 3M (the brand) clear bra/vinyl thing and when I looked into getting it replaced bc of some scuffs I couldnt get buffed out they quoted me like 3 hundo or some stupid amount I wasnt ready to pay.. but being that your car is new I think it'd be a great investment.

AGREED! Having a front lip adds so much to the aesthetics of your car and esp if you go with an eBay front lip you can buy one for pretty cheap- which is also where I got mine!

Also I hate the amber in headlights so clearing mine was def one of my priorities. My regret was letting someone do it who rushed through the job.. resulting in one of them leaking and having to bake and seal it up again. such a PITA! but I cant stand that amber

Repainting car (first thing and very important)
Gold BBS STi wheels (17 or 18) with either black or yellow bolts
STi scoop
not so much styling, but I need a turboback exhaust.
Black with yellow accented shift boot
New non altezza type rear lamps
HID 3,500k lights

There's a few other things I'd like to get such as yellow calipers but my brakes work fine for now, and I usually don't replace things until they break from normal driving.

When I bought my legacy I already had the Hella's from the Impreza but that would be my #1 priority...until you have them you will get cut off all the time and people will do stupid stuff...the second you get them you won't ever have to use them....at least that's been my experience!

the first thing we purchased were the All Weather Floor Mats!!!!! These are necessary especially in the NE states and/or northern states. LOL or really anywhere that gets muddy and gross.

The 2nd thing non performance that my hubby bought me were LED's to replace the map lights, dome lights and door lights! He got them from LED Station online and I can ask him which ones he got and/or which ones would fit your car if your interested.

Vinyl is good although I really only put a few site stickers on my windows...none yet, I am trying to decide where I want them and who I want to advertise on my car. SubieGirls is one of the ones i just haven't decided where to put it yet. Come october i'm going to get the 22" Scoobies for Boobies Banner and put it on my rear Window.

Hrm...If your subie doesn't make it too difficult than an aftermarket stereo system would be the next place i'd go. I want to go that route in my Leggy but just to get the surround piece to fit an aftermarket radio I'd have to get it from Japan and it's something like $500.

Have fun buying the presents for your baby!

Thanks for all the ideas. My roof rack came in yesterday, so one down...many more to go. I'm definitely considering upgrading the horn to hellas.
