autocross

sooo... i've never autocrossed before and i want to try it! i know they do autocross in portland, me but does anyone else know of some other places we could maybe meet up and race eachother? i tried to do some research but didn't come up with anything since i really don't know what i'm looking for! haha also, do you know if any of these places would let us rent it to do a private autocross? i don't know how this all works... so bear with me haha

There are lots of clubs that run a/x. I just ran with Renegade Miata at Devens Airfield in MA a few weeks ago.

If there's a Saturday event that fits into my schedule, I'd go to one with you. If we can get enough girls to go, they may open a women's class. If you'd drive to Devens, we can look into doing a Renegade Miata Club a/x.

Ya so how does this work? How many classes do you need to take before you can actually race? Or is it just until you feel ready? Sarah, have you seen many girls racing at Devens? Is it one of those macho guys crackin up at the ladies on the course kind of thing? lol I would love to get into racing? And how about drag, are there any places around here? I cant find a website for devens a/x do you know where i can find info?

Autocrossing does not need classes. There are instructors at each event that will tell you how it works and go through the course with you, even on every run if you want.

Women a/x, just not nearly as much as men. There is a drag strip in NH. I'm heading out to grab dinner, I'll post some info up later.

I've toyed with the idea of AutoX but seeing how much I shell out for tires and such makes it hard to warrant trying it right now. Idk though, if Jess decides to go up with the LGT then I don't think I could let her show me up. STi owners represent, lol! ;P
