Figured I'd try this here to get some girls who are interested/curious about motorsports/racing to a racetrack. :) If you are interested in racing or just high performance driving in general, read on!
NASA (http://www.nasaproracing.com/) (National Auto Sport Association) is having another trackday at Limerock this year. This is a non-professional level and style of racing. You will see everything from Honda grocery-getters to insane race-prepped Ferraris. Most of the cars that race are daily drivers and their owners are everyday people out for a fun day of high performance driving.
Trackdays are like autocross days, but on a dedicated road course track. Cars run on the track at the same time, up to 30+ cars for Limerock, for several heats throughout the day. There are several classes that run at the same time as well. The classes are just categories that cars and their drivers are put into depending on how fast their car is and how much driving experience they have.
Lime Rock Park (http://www.limerock.com/) is in Northeast Connecticut, which makes it very convenient for the locals to attend. Lime Rock Park is one of the oldest and most classic track of the New England region. It is 1.53 miles long and has exciting changes in elevation (ups and downs). It was just repaved last summer and is extremely smooth and fun to drive on.
NASA is actually using the track Friday and Saturday, August 8th. However, all of the racers and enthusiasts/spectators that I know are only going on Saturday. It is a half day of racing.
10 am - Registration and Tech Inspection begins
12 pm - Drivers meeting
1 pm - Cars start racing
5 pm - Cars end racing
There are a boat load of people from CTSubaru.com going to Limerock for the afternoon to spectate. For spectators, you may just arrive and leave at your leisure to enjoy the day. There is no ticketing or requirements to spectate and there are several designated spectating areas around the track. Children under 18 y.o. must be accompanied by an adult. Pets are not allowed. It's always a good show and fun experience.
Unfortunately, this weekend is only for experienced racers. This means you either need a racing license or a decent amount of racing in your logbook. There are many other weekends where NASA allows novice racers and people who have no experience on track at all. For those who are curious and are thinking you might want to race someday, this is a good weekend to check out the action.
In addition to spectating, you can sometimes get rides with instructors or other experienced racers too! Usually, passenger slots fill up very quickly and hard to find. If you are lucky, another passenger may not show up and thus someone might have an empty passenger seat for you to ride. All you need is a helmet, Snell M2000 or newer, and jeans+long sleeve shirt. Open-toed shoes are not allowed. Also, passengers must sign a waiver and have their helmet inspected before rides, it's a very simple process.
In light of the interest in motorsports/racing I have seen here on Subiegirls.com, I would like to open my passenger seat to anyone who would like a free ride. Take my word, it is a very thrilling and safe experience. I will be racing my 2006 STI in HPDE3 and I am allowed to carry passengers.
The racing schedule for the day will be very tight, so I ask that you let me know if you'd like a ride ASAP. My passenger seat will be filling up rather quickly, as the track time is limited and other friends are interested in rides too. Feel free to post here, PM me or arrive on Saturday by 11 am if you interested. I'm happy to answer any questions as well. :)
