Critical fasteners should not be made from Aluminum.
I had Aluminum lugs once. Buy the third time I had to take them off, they already started stripping.
And dont try to tell me my technique is wrong..Im one of the most anal people I know when it comes to my lug nuts and wheel studs.

I got some cheap (compared to Ray's) annodized lugs a while ago. They were like $60 so I thought they would be a little better quality...nope. The paint starts to strip each time you put the lug key on there....and they have now faded from red to orange....not a good look  I think I will be biting the bullet on some Ray's soon.

Ray's and McGard's are much better quality. The cheap annodized ones I have might as well have been painted with nail polish. Mine were almost silver after a few removals and my husbands black ones are barely even scratched. He used to have some pink ones that never faded and barely had any scratches....kinda wish I took them before he parted and traded it :(

This pic stinks, it was taken in a garage so the color looks a little off. I'll snap one when I get home too. :)

Rays are Anodized Aluminum. Anodized Aluminum does not hold up against tools very well. Again, critical fasteners should not be made of aluminum! It is far too soft!
McGards are Hard Anodized Chromoly Steel. THIS is what you want Lug Nuts made out of.
If you REALLY want to use Alu Lugs, I suggest getting a socket to dedicate to the lugs, and lining the inside of it with Masking tape. This, however, will not prevent them from stripping. Which they'll do. Even Ray's.

I don't think you completely understand what I am getting at...lol. The pink on my lugs was stripped after a few removals not too long after I got them. My husband has had his for 3 years and ARE NOT stripped. All three sets (McGards, Ti-Tek, and Rays). How can you not say that that is better quality?
Rays are made of duraluminum. It's an alloy and actually not very soft at all. They use that to make aircraft nuts and bolts.....if it's good enough for the thrust and speed of a plane.....I think it is ok as a lug on my little ole Legacy

I had some cheap Motegi nuts on my S14 back in the day. They worked great, I changed my wheels very frequently, during a track day maybe 2-3 times in just one day and I dozens on track days. They had a key that I had to use, and after 4 years or so, the head started to strip a little, but it wasn't that bad.
