Alright soo... I went to buy a set of Rota Tarmac 3's.. only to find out they had a disappointing cheap finish and a piece that already chipped off. What is a good, solid wheel that isn't going to chip or fall apart and that looks supa fly too? :D
Where these Rota's you looked at new or used?

I'm pretty sure it's easy to give almost any wheel curb rash.
And lots of people ride on rotas and take good care of them...
^ This is what I was going to get at. Most sets of used wheels out there are going to have some damage to them. Some of them may be selling for cheap but could be much worth it like the Rota tarmac II's I bought for $200, which just have one pretty bad rashed wheel. Then you can spend the extra $$ you saved on having them sanded and powder coated to look like new. But as long as you take care of them you should have no problems. I mean unless you want to dish out over 1K per wheel on BBS's or something... But even then, if you swipe a curb, or a large rock hits em at high speeds your going to have some kind of damage...

Right now I've got a pair of Enkei Imolas and they seem pretty solid. No chips, scratches or cracks and I ride on some pretty nasty roads with lots of gravel & pot holes. I think I paid $140 per wheel.

OP, did you find a set of wheels yet?
What is your budget and do you want to stick to the same/similar style of wheel?
