I am proud to say I have started the 2nd year of fundraising for the American Cancer Society under team Scoobies for Boobies. This is correlation with October, National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
You can view our team page at: scoobiesforboobies.org (http://www.scoobiesforboobies.org)
A $25 donation is required at the time you join the team. It is a great way to get your personal fundraising started. You can be male or female and from anywhere to join our team and help with personal fundraising!
Please contact myself or Arlia11 at any time if you have any questions on how to raise money for a charity. Whether it be verbally or written, asking for donations can be tough, especially if you haven't done it before. So don't forget, we're here to help!
We will continue to update the team page as well as this thread to keep you posted.
Let's go team!

Signed up :)
So if someone wants to write a personal check instead of an online payment. Who does the check need to be written out to? And can they track that their donation was really put into Scoobies for Boobies?

^Monica, I only remember part of the process with checks. Let me get the rest of the info and I'll get back and post the info in the first post.
(When you join the team it tells you what the checks need to say on the info line. If you join before I get the details, can you send them to me so I can post them?)

I ran into a question during registration:
"What is the name of the event you are participanting in?"
I wasnt to clear on whether we will be doing the walk in Oct or if the cruise(drive)? :)

i don't know that i'll be able to handle walking but i may still try to get some donations!! Either way, i do want to be apart of this somehow. i would be willing to get some of you girls in my area together to do a car wash (theres a place in somersworth with A LOT of traffic that will let local sports teams do car washes). i can wash the top half of the car :) haha but we'd need to do it soon since it's going to be cold soon. any other ideas?
So we are walking not cruising right?

Yeah and this time I will remember to wear the correct shoes and to STRETCH before walking.
Yayyy finaly signed up! And sent out like 50 emails, lets see how it goes! Are we still walking in this? its like in 2 weeks !

So I have been quite a lot away recently, are we doing the walk on sunday the 4th? if yes, so we have Tshirt?
Also any news on asking for donations on forums? Poker night?
xxthat girlxx
09-28-2009, 04:04 PM
Poker night is out for this year. Mudflap info will be posted shortly. Tshirts will be sold and ordered at the end of October, I'm finishing up with the people who will be printing them for us. I can't do that walk because I'm working, not too many people have joined the team yet. I'd say we'll be fundraising online, through the shirt and mudflap fundraiser and Monica had a good suggestion that I may look into about having a fundraiser night at a restaurant.

haha that's okay :) sarah, do you want me to contact some local portsmouth restaurants? they're about 45-50 minutes from you and they'll be in high traffic, tourist-y areas. plus, they'll only be about 45 minutes from me too so it's kind of in the middle.

Sounds good Jessica. They only do fundraisers like that on weeknights. Just a heads up. I work until 8pm Tuesday-Thursday. But New England Subarus has a bunch of NH people so that could be a good way to reach them too.

did we ever find out who to make the checks payable to?
If someone gives you cash or a check its a bit of a process so first step after they have written it out you follow this:
http://help.convio.net/site/PageServer?pagename=User_TeamRaiser_EnterGifts_def ault
So there was no info on who to write it out to or what to do with it after you recives it so I emailed one of the reps and this is what she replied:
The check will need to be made out to the American Cancer Society. Once you have received the check and entered it online, you send it to:
American Cancer Society
Making Strides Against Breast Cancer
9 Riverside Rd
Weston, MA 02493
Any other questions you can call or email this lady:

Emailed you Sarah. Got monies to send.

Ok So on top of inputing the info for cash/check donations on your personal progress page, you want to go to your main personal page on the team acs website and at the bottom there is a link that sais: If you are unable to donate online, please print a donation form to mail in your contribution.. So you print this form then fill it out and then according to the number at the bottom of that form they told me that all Donations for teams under the American Cancer Society are recieved and processed at:
American Cancer Society
New England Division
30 Speen St
Framingham, MA 01701
Make sure to send the donations with the printed form so that ACS will be able to identify what team the donations are coming from and given credit for.

I feel like I might be asking a stupid question but: on my other forum, a bunch of people want to buy shirts (10 so far). They're also interested in putting the website on the back of the shirt. If we buy 10 shirts, it's 200$. If it's 100$ to get your website on the back, is that included in the 200$ for the shirts, or is that in addition to the 200$ you're already paying for the shirts? Not trying to be cheap, just trying to understand... One of the girls wants mudflaps as well. Should we just do a group buy, or should we order them all separate?
Thanks!!

donating does not include the purchase of a shirt... you would have to donate 100 to publish your web site address/300 for the logo and then you can purchase shirts for 20 each. and this is a valid question :-)
the mudflaps in reality should be separate unless you want them all shipped to the same address. rallyarmor is directly shipping them for us. to get a shipping quote, go to rallyarmors web site, select the amount of mudflaps youd like for each make and model and then update your cart. voila! email sarah@subiegirls.com to order.
hope that helps and i hope i didnt leave anything out!

The spelling of scoobies looks nicer with the word boobies. DUH! But no seriously, that's the reason. I prefer "subie" to "scoobie/scooby" too but we discussed it as a group and it worked.
Strangers to the car community call subie girls sub(like subway)ie girls. So either way, someone will always be confused.
Well people used to call them Scooby-Doo's and I have still seen many forums and people who still call them Scoobies, so it is a widespread name for these cars. And since it does go very well with boobies it just worked out. lol. Altough I work for the state and the regional manager came by the other day and saw my flyer posted up and wanst too happy about it lmao, until i explained to her what we are doing lol, she let me keep them up.

What brand are the womens shirts? I'm kind of um, top heavy, hehe, and I want to make sure I get the right size so the shirt isn't too short on my. A men's medium tshirt usually fits me perfectly in length (not so much in sleeves), so I'm not sure which size I would get in womens.

Men's shirts are Gildan brand and Women's shirts are Bella brand. They are long length, trendy style and run a tad small. The t-shirts should be available early November, as the fund raising for The American Cancer Society will close at the end of October.

Annnddd the tshirt orders (among other things) is why I have been MIA for so long.
Omg. Total was 334 shirts ordered.
CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?!
Awsome!! Are the shirt orders profits going to be added as donations on the scoobiesforboobies.org page to raise that thermometer up closer to our goal by any chance?

Probably not. I mean there event is for cancer research ours is specifically for breast cancer research. Could they be, I'm sure? But I think individually they are kicking butt as well.

I miss the guys at Buffalo Scooby. Our Dim Sum meets were great.
Not entirely sure how many shirts are extra yet - still waiting on some things.
Oh - and still shipping them out. Good heavens - 70ish orders left...

if you have extras left and have a small i can trade for a medium, that would be fabulous! if not, i'll just order a small next year.

They had one of those in November, but I didn't go. I did go on the Canandaigua cruise and that was f'ing awesome :)

Sorry for bumping an old thread.
Quick question: (I'm lazy to search) For the upcoming fundraiser this Oct., is there anyway we could do some vinyl decals?
I would rock a Scoobies for Boobies vinyl decal on my car any day. I got the tshirt last year and love it!
xxthat girlxx
03-22-2010, 11:00 PM
No need to apologize. We'll be starting a new thread for 2010 I'm sure. There has been interest in vinyl, so I'm going to look into either a "bumper sticker" or "vinyl cutout."
Thanks for the input.
Hope you'll join the Scoobies for Boobies team this year!!
+1 on the vinyl!! I personally wouldnt rock a bumper sticker though... corny.... :p
jessickascarling
03-23-2010, 09:52 PM
i don't think she meant a literal bumper sticker... i think it's more of like a figurative thing? that's why i think there were quotes.
xxthat girlxx
03-24-2010, 05:21 PM
No I meant either a rectangle bumper sticker or a vinyl cutout. Hahahaha. Bumper sticker will cost less money. I think...

I dont mind paying the extra few bucks for the vinyl... u should do it! I saw people on nasioc bringin this up again too, they want vinyls too!

Sorry, it's just a rough draft... just an idea...
xxthat girlxx
03-26-2010, 10:37 AM
Rough draft appreciated. I'd love it if we could have a 3 color vinyl piece done like the logo on the front of the shirts. But it would be hard to do and pretty expensive. I'm going to look into it. And I'm going to add .org on the end of everything now so that it will direct people toward the website. Which needs to be made... lol.

don't we have a .org all ready through team acs?

The .org was set up to easily route people to our acs page until we can actually get a real website together.

^No, it's not. But if we have its own website that people can order shirts off of... and vinyl off of... it will help us LOTS and LOTS of time. Also, we can organize all the fundraisers and it will be an additional way to advertise for the sponsors we receive.

i 100% agree! but it'll probably be a lot of work to do it right away so i think you've gone about it the right way to at least get people to our donation page.
