National Breast Cancer Awareness Month is HERE!
There are some big changes around the Scoobies for Boobies camp and I am very excited to share with you. This year is going to be great!
For our 2011 campaign, we are raising money for the Keep A Breast Foundation (KAB).
http://scoobiesforboobies.org/images/keepabreast.gif (http://www.keep-a-breast.org/)
Through KAB we are able to raise money online through social networking. It is FREE to join - and you can tap right into your Facebook, twitter, etc. to tell your friends, family, co-workers and cyber buddies about SFB and our efforts.
Please consider joining/helping our team (http://www.stayclassy.org/fundraise/team?ftid=601) in these three ways:
1) If you join our online fundraising team (for free and 5 minutes or less of your time!) and tell your friends and they join and tell their friends the process keeps growing and the Subaru community will really come together with ease for an amazing cause!
2) Cliché as is may be to some - every little bit helps. Imagine if every Subaru enthusiast donated $1 - once a year - for this cause! Our community is amazing AND large. That $1 would go VERY far and together we can all absolutely make a difference!
3) There are ways to be a sponsor (http://scoobiesforboobies.org/index.php?page=donate) and you don't have to just be a "business." Forums and regional/sub-forums can collectively raise money as a group to get your logo and/or web address on the back of the 2011 clothing! If you have questions or are interested and aren't sure how to get started, you can email me directly at: sarah at scoobiesforboobies dot org.

Is there a way to link all of these goodies to our fundraising page? So i can spread the word on FB? THANNKKK YOU!!!!
^ There is a page on the scooboesforboobies.org site, but all the neww goodies have yet to be added, so i guess you're goin to have to be patient w/ that... I'm sure Sarah will be getting to that soon.
Or you could always just post the link to this page. It is public so even non-members can view this thread :)

You won't have the shirt by subiefest. They are only doing preorders now. They can't print the shirts till all the fundraising is over. We need to know what sponsors names to print on the back. The more they donate the bigger their name will be so on and so forth. (best way I can explain it without going into the whole deal on my phone)
Sorry some people get confused. I just have to put this out there.
Sarah or someone can jump in more later. And add to this.

Let me pose another question, or it may be relevant to my first one. But, my brother, who lives in North Dakota wants to buy a sweatshirt and a hat. Is there anyway to track who they are supporting in SFB? If that makes sense? or am i beating a dead horse here? haha

I'm really excited this year - especially about all the clothing, hat, accessory varieties.
The mudflaps are on my boyfriend's car and they look great and of course, are holding up well.
I think I'll be getting myself a guy's shirt + tank this year. I like longer sleeves on my t-shirts and I find myself tugging on the women's shirts.
Also I'm trying to get the TXIC San Antonio group to put in a group order to kind of show all our support. :)

I say go with your gut, but oink and red are combined a lot and match each other. I think this one subtle Pink piece on your car would be okay. :)

Yes they can be shipped. No idea on pricing and its considered international so even flat rate shipping is more than in states.

They are sold out right now. I was thinking the 8 inch. I am hoping to get one down the road... just brainstorming what to do with this pillar. This seemed like a decent idea.

Tank tops are the last product to be printed. Any order with a tank top will be shipping hopefully by weeks end.
When my grandfather died, I was late with some things to Subiemerch and I put production behind by a week.
I'll speak with them about their emails, but please understand how many orders we receive in a short time and how many people email everyday asking about the clothes that were ordered bc they don't read that the clothing is pre-order. It is frustrating for everyone. Especially the printer who works 40 hours a week in a regular job and comes home every day to print shirts. It doesn't leave a lot of time for emails. If he answers emails he cant print and if he prints he cant answer emails. He printed/packaged clothing on both Thanksgiving and his birthday.
Maybe we can build a support team to handle all income emails regarding purchases. Let me know if anyone is interested in helping our cause.

I'm wondering of there is an address issue for your July order. I will touch base with the company on this.

I ordered the Subiegirls tee and some other items back in July. Didn't receive anything. I remembered last year we had to wait for them to produce the tee shirts for SFB so thought it was like that but then everyone else received theirs. :(
I honestly don't recall what all I ordered again. Only received the SFB lanyard out of both orders.

Hope, the printer looked into this for me a day ago and he sent you more than one email with no response. I am getting all emails from him so that I can be the direct contact with you and get this sorted out.

This isn't just a 'business' thing. With the exception of RallyArmor, everyone involved in this fundraiser is spending their time on top of full time jobs/school. Me, Michelle/OMGPB who joined this year to handle SFB emails bc there are so many, the vinyl vendor, the printer and the handful of team members who who organized events that raised ~$1,000.
I'm going to see if there is a way to fix email issues/questions moving forward, but if you even read some of the emails we receive on a regular basis you head would EXPLODE. People who ordered items - didn't receive them and then said "that was my address 5 years ago not now" and wanted us to RESHIP merchandise to them b/c they made a mistake. People who ordered two pairs of vinyl and then emailed angrily to say "I ordered 5 pieces of vinyl what the hell you messed up" when their receipt and payment CLEARLY showed "two pairs."
No matter how big we put things in print and no matter how many times/how many places we write the same sentences OVER and OVER people write "I ordered 3 days ago why hasn't it shipped" when it clearly stated 5-7 business day shipping turnaround.
I understand you're frustrated but please understand how much work, time and effort seriously goes into this. We are just as frustrated as you are that we can't be more effective because of people do not take the time to read or because people or ignorant/etc.
I am going to see if we can implement an email for all SFB related inquires to one place with one/a couple people doing just customer service, but even then, I'm sure people will still email the wrong place and get mad and say we didn't respond.
If they were all finished, I didn't get an email saying mine was shipped...
I know they were trying to email all orders as shipped as they went out. I'm wondering if some of the emails landed in spam boxes.

Oh, I'm not angry at all. I had my own business for 5 yrs, 3 stores, 10 employees and I still owned 50% of a T-shirt and vinyl shop, also did a lot of fundraisers and dedicated my time and energy to never ending complainers. I'm currently managing one of the largest retail mobile stores in my company, 20 employees and 60+ hrs/week. When I'm not at my store, I help manage the smaller store across town because my boss tells me "you have to run the market, 30 employees, no choice."
I totally understand where you come from, however never allowed anything to get this backed up ever without proper communication. I don't know where he's sending his emails, but I verified my contact info and shipping info 3 times, even ordered other items from other vendors through Google check out and no issues at all. Obviously, they have my correct mailing address because I did receive the SFB lanyard. Shoot me a PM and I can fwd on the mailing info again. At this point, I'd like to get my items I ordered, but I'm not going to hold my breath. I have more important things that occupy my time such as running 2 stores and 30 employees at the busiest time of the year for my business.

I'm just going to throw this out here...
Everyone is busy. I work two jobs and I'm going to school to get my masters.
I still offered to help Sarah with the campaign this year because I think it's a worthy cause and I WANT to help. No one who has complained about their order has offered to help...
Also, I placed an order for almost $1,000 worth of merchandise and it was one of the last orders to be shipped. You don't see me posting in every other thread about how I haven't received it yet.
This is for a charity. All the work is volunteer. It's not a business. If you don't like the way it's run, either offer to help make it better or decide not to participate it.
Sarah's taking time out to help facilitate getting your order from July. She doesn't have to do that. She could have you work directly with the vendor, but she's trying to make this better for you. And instead of thanking her, you just complain some more. That, to me, doesn't speak well of your character. I don't think a single person who has posted in this thread has thanked Sarah for all her hard work, it's only complaints. I'm ashamed for all of you.

Let me put this out there for anyone who thinks we the vendors make a killing on Scoobies for Boobies:
Calculated out, just office time, I made $4/hour last year. This year I made under $3/hour. Running $10k of equipment.
Guess what happened this year? One of my $2700 machines died due to being overworked.
I dont know Chris's details exactly, but last I heard he isnt making much either.
We barely make enough to stay afloat. The time/rate calculation doesnt account for time spent answering rhetorical emails while Im away from my desk, or the hundreds of miles I drive to represent at events where we dont have volunteers.
And because of that, I have to decide if I want to continue participating in Scoobies for Boobies. Ive put in hundreds of hours of volunteer work a year since I was 14, and I donate thousands a year, but Scoobies for Boobies is going to kill me.

You are going into this with the full understanding you are going to get repeated questions and those who will attempt to take advantage of the system, but again, you go in knowing this (especially Sarah since she has done this in previous years). From a consumer stand point, we see it as, "...well you have our money and we are not getting a response or update from you when we ordered over a xxx amount of days/months". We only have assumptions for what is going on behind the scenes.
I doubt anyone is taking for granted the amount of hours you ladies have volunteered and no one has combated to say you are not doing anything at all. I strongly feel that the "thanks" is shown by our donations, purchasing these items, and spreading the word in support of the cause. Not only that, we will be wearing and representing the cause. Considering your workload and volunteer effort, you shouldn't have time to be ashamed for all of us ;). That I found a bit harsh.
And here is a member who has thanked Sarah -
thanks boss lady for setting this up again this year! :-)

So that's one person. And I never said anyone forced me to volunteer. I explicitly stated that I volunteered because I wanted to. All I'm trying to say is, have some compassion. It's a small community and a small amount of people trying to do a good thing. Let's have constructive comments, not just criticism.

Considering how many years this has been going one I would expect it to be a little more organized. It seems like the issues are mostly with the merch providers. Hopefully they either get things more organized or Sarah finds someone else to provide the merch next year.

I pretty much agree with this. I ordered merch and helped out with bignw and a little bit for wcss and that wasn't very organized either. I feel like Sarah is super overwhelmed, but maybe there needs to be further delegation. I think Scoobies for boobies is a fantastic idea, but at the same time the lack of communication and organization makes it look a little flaky. Example shouldn't donations be tax deductible? A non profit as far as I'm aware (at least here in WA) is required to have a tax id number as a non profit that people can list as a tax deduction. As someone who also runs a non profit I completely understand how things can get overwhelming very fast when you are dealing with every detail yourself. I'm not ashamed of anything anyone has said as of yet. People paid for product that was ordered two months ago for some and they haven't received it, yes, that is a problem. There are a lot of things that go on behind the scenes of a non profit (speaking from experience) that majority of the public never hear about, but when you're given a contact and that contact fails to communicate or sends you around in circles that's making not only the contact but the purpose look flaky and gives it a bad name. I know personally I've had to deal with lost product or waiting for months for product, while I kept my cool and was extremely disappointed, product finally showed up after multiple communication attempts (please note this has happened other places as well not just here on subiegirls). This has the possibility to be a great idea but personally I feel like most of the time things are left up to Sarah or Sarah given as a primary contact and I know that's difficult to deal with. Not saying anyone is particularly innocent, just saying with further delegation and organization this could be great fundraiser for a great cause.

Man y'all are long winded. I'm sending this from a phone so I'm not even going to read all that. Lol. Sarah, I'm grateful for the efforts you put forth. I've been on forums for years. One in particular I was one of the original staff on and that site got so big it outgrew itself. Got on there back in its humble beginnings and finally left after enduring 11 months of corporate ownership hell. I've been part of fundraisers and all sorts of large forum events. It's not easy. Coordination is a pain and the supporting vendors sometimes make it even more difficult. So yes its hard. Thank you for putting the event together. Thank you for making it fun. I'm not going to babble on forever and beat a dead horse. I'll just continue to wait. I haven't gotten an email so I'll just keep an eye open.

I'm not going to quote b/c I don't want my post to be even more of a ginormous wall of text than what I have to write. There are a few really important things that need to be touched on here and I'll probably miss some things... but here it goes.
For starters SFB has never been "backed up" like this before. This is actually how long in takes print, sort, package and ship HUNDREDS of ordered items. In mostly volunteered time.
Yes there are vendors making some money for printing. But what they aren't making money is on all the time it takes to answer emails. Sort the product. Package the product. Ship the product. Our first year of SFB was ~150 shirts and the printer did nothing but print the shirts and it took give or take 4 hours (and a bunch of pizza) for 5 people to sort, count and package the shirts alone. That did not include how much time it took to hand enter every single order into USPS.com to make labels. That also did not include vinyl, bracelets, lanyards, hats and more merchandise that we actually couldn't produce this year b/c it was just too much to do.
We were happy to find vendors willing to give us a better check out system that was so much more efficient than orders emailed to us and then waiting for paypal payments etc.
The volume of orders this year SANS emails has exceeded our current capabilities.
This fundraiser is not lacking organization, we are lacking volunteers. Michelle is the first person who has officially joined the non-vendor aspect of this team. And I am SO grateful for the help that she has provided me with answering emails from the SFB website.
We know that we are having troubles this year because of the overwhelming response to this team effort. We aren't pretending we aren't. We are just asking for you to accept our apology for the inconvenience.
Because of the extreme growth we have had each year, we recognized from the start of this year that: I need more help like WHOA.
I have been the sole contact for any and everything SFB for the past 3 years. And it has been fine until now. I have relied VERY heavily on all of my vendor team members this year. I pretty much told them, I think/hope you know what I need/want and I need to trust you to do your best to get it done.
I HATE that the vendors are having a hard time responding to emails. The quantity of emails received this year probably totals more than the last two years combined if not more!! It tears me up that if they respond to emails people will be mad that their stuff isn't printed/shipped and if they print/ship people will be mad that their emails aren't responded to. This will be one of the large things from '11 that will be adjusted for next year for sure.
I have ideas to help SFB and women in the Subaru community to come together. But I need to be so focused on other important things that I can't even begin to expand more than what the natural course of it has been.
Team SFB is a group of people raising money (this year) for the KAB Foundation. We do not need a tax ID b/c we are not the non-profit. If you donate online to our team or send a check to KAB on behalf of our efforts, the money goes straight to KAB and you should receive an email for your tax purposes. The vendors that are a part of/donating to this team send money they raise to KAB and will be able to list it as a tax deduction just the same.
This team fundraising format is used by the ACS, Susan G Komen, Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, Livestrong and hundreds (if not thousands) of other non-profit organizations.
I started listening to a self-help book on tape today (yay for growth as an individual!!). Some of today's topics covered were:
Don't criticize, condemn, or complain.
Give honest and sincere appreciation.
It seems so fitting to get me through all this!! Phew!
That being said, it is hard to separate SG and SFB because I own SG and I founded team SFB, but they are separate entities. This is not the place for all of this SFB talk.
I am happy to discuss anything with anyone via phone or email. You can reach out to me at sarah at scoobiesforboobies dot org. Comments, questions, concerns, suggestions and while much less preferred; criticisms - are welcomed.
Thank you to everyone who has supported this effort. I promise I will do everything in my power to continue fighting this horrible disease and to make working with Team SFB a more pleasurable experience.

If you need help Sarah, let me know. I know I'm states away but if there is anything that can be appropriately delegated, I'm around.
I love the SfB effort and appreciate the chaos you all are trying to wrangle from a volunteer's stand point.
Understanding the nature of this effort and the parties involved, I've naturally assumed this would take a while to get produced and shipped. This year seemed especially successful which is wonderful and, I think, understandably overwhelming for the small businesses involved. I explained it to the locals and while anxious, they empathize and are okay with the delay.
I'm ashamed for all of you.
I understood the rational of your post and was all on board with it until you went an insulted ALL. If someone's comments disappoint you: call them out or speak in generic. Please don't accuse everyone in this thread or the general community of being inconsiderate because you don't see public thanks. Appreciation is lovely to receive but being upset/offended that its not public or possibly non-existent is at odds with a volunteer's basic purpose. Sarah's annual effort demonstrate her commitment and understanding of this. Complaints will always be present but I think she's managed to respond quickly and professionally.

LOL. Honestly, I'm not even upset about it. I'm not freaking out or getting angry and screaming and yelling. Just pointing out that hey, I haven't received any of my orders but one item. $135 of items since July 15. *shrug* it's for a good cause. I have volunteered and organized several similar type events and it's a thankless job. I did spend night after night making tees, hoodies, tanks, etc, 150+ by myself after hours for the local Subie club, for 4 yrs. I'm no stranger to hard work and countless effort of organizing and everyone complaining. It would just be nice to get my orders too. ;)
Otherwise, keep up the hard work. People ask me about Scoobies for Boobies all the time, I have last year's shirt and my lanyard.

I think it's a great cause, plus we get some sweet merch to rock too ;) thanks so much for all the work that goes into it, I can only imagine how tiring it must be... I think people need to be less uptight and realize that it takes a while. That being said, I ordered my stuff on oct 16, and just received my sweatshirt and tee today. It took a little while, but nothing extreme as far as I'm concerned, considering that production doesn't begin until November and it's a relatively small organization working on the fundraiser.
My props and thanks go out to all the men and women that bust their humps for a great cause! Cheers everyone :-)

Question: has anyone attempted to contact AnubisBlue Designs regarding the whereabouts of those items they ordered and whether they have or have not yet shipped? I tried calling the number provided by Google Checkout but it goes to a google voice number with no voicemail. If you have successfully made contact with them can you please let me know? I have an email sitting in my draft folder ready to send. But judging by the lack of a decent site or good contact number, I can't help but feel that any attempt to make contact boa email is a wasted effort and I might as well count my money gone.
Let me say that this is no reflection on Sarah, SFB or this site and any apprehension I may have regarding AnubisBlue Designs is for them and them alone. Any outstanding customer service issues regarding the purchase of items, I believe, would help her for next year. Then again I've been in management too long, it's just after work, and I'm sending this novel from my iPhone so maybe I'm over thinking how the wait for items may help find a better vendor for next year. Lol
Sarah, thank you again for your efforts and I want you to know that in no way shape or form am I associating you with what I see to be lacking service on behalf of a vendor. You've been a great coordinator!

I am 99% positive that all
Orders were shipped. So if you didn't get an email it may have been as simple as 50 pages in a pile together and one stuck to another in the email process.
The thing I am concerned enough is that a relatively inexpensive shopping cart system online will NOT give us the features we want.
Based on this year, these are things that would make customer service better:
- better order to shipping calculations. Any hoodie order ended up costing us money to ship this year.
- being able to split shipments ie: mail your lanyard and your bracelet before your clothing. We need to be able to recognize partial shipments in the back end of the system AND not lose too much money on shipping twice.
- sending out auto emails when shipping labels are printed.
- a means to track packages without them being too expensive. People ordered $8 in vinyl and were mad to pay for priority USPS shipping that tracked their packages. It also allowed paypal to cover the item/shipping cost if it was not delivered. If we send stuff cost effectively in an envelope, there is no way to guarantee a shipment. ESPECIALLY bc with paypal - people were contacting us saying 'oh hey, I loved at that address 5 years ago, I need you to resend me the product.' I don't see how that is fair to a business let alone a few people putting in time/effort where proceeds go to a charitable cause.
I'd hate to raise prices on the shirts - but compared to other popular clothing, we are still very reasonably priced and a tshirt for $25 may help balance out a lot of the trouble we have run into with shipping problems.
I am very sorry for any snafu-s USPS related. UPS and FedEx pricing is off the wall for things like lanyards and bracelets and even tshirts. We will get there with your feedback!
Thank you everyone.

Sarah and Michelle, thank you again for your help rectifying this. I really do appreciate it. As the niece of a 2 time breast cancer survivor, even if my money is gone, it was worth it to support this cause. My biggest concern (other than I really do want the great teeshirt!) is that this could affect apparel purchases going forward next year. If I'm over thinking it in typical upper management fashion, I apologize. It's just that Nasioc can be like a den of sex starved, video game deprived, velociraptors and I'd hate to see their bitchy comments for SFB12! Thanks again!

Uhhhh what does this have to do with anything that's being talked about in this thread?

I believe items were sold on Nasioc too. My overly colorful description about how some of the members, not all, are rabid and if they didn't get their items, I'd hate to see what those members would have to say. I'm sorry, Nick. I love nasioc but there are some rabid folks on there.

I should have clarified what I meant by that but in my haste to eat my first meal of the day, I neglected too. Sorry for any confusion, y'all.

Sugarpie - you aren't over thinking it. There is a lot that goes into this and a lot that will need to keep up with growth.
Please email Michelle and myself if you'd like to join our team. Even if it's just logistics for the next go-round, help will be appreciated.
I understood what you meant about NASIOC. Lol!

It doesn't help the shipping process any that the USPS has been behind lately. I am getting all my packages 2-3 days late from other vendors due to the USPS being slow. That might be what is taking your's so long.

Two weeks is a record even for the USPS but I see your point.

Just wanted to mention that the SA group received all its merchandise (minus only one pair of black vinyls) on 12/10.
Passed most of it out at last weeks meet and got several obligatory, "Can we still order one more?" :)
I think everyone was thrilled with how the clothing came out. Some of the girls commented that the shirt sizes seemed smaller than they thought they should be but we hope they'll stretch some.
Thanks to all the SfB crew for getting out nice merchandise.

A huge thing: I don't personally track every package that goes out the door...if you don't let me know your package didnt show up, I assume it's all set. If you email me 2 months later and complain that it's been 2 months and you should have your item, you're right, but I can't be be held responsible for that time frame since it wasn't brought up.

*shrug* life happens. everyone gets busy. New job, traveling and managing now 2 large stores. getting my tee shirts wasn't a huge priority. Glad Sarah got my SFB order squared away. Now waiting on the rest. I'm in no hurry, I got bigger fish to fry. Once they arrive, it will be like Christmas at my PO! :D

I hope this wasn't directed at me because I did email, twice. Otherwise, thanks for the heads up. While I think you should track your items as it makes good business sense from a customer service perspective and reputation aspect, I can understand that the orders must be currently overwhelming.

Yup yup, I did after my post. :) But as an additional update, I received the missing vinyls today so I'm all set. USPS is slow but with Christmas this weekend, its easy to know why. ;)
Anyway Happy Holidays everyone!

Out of curiousity, what date was that postmarked?
The last SFB vinyl to leave my hands was November 3

Finally got my shirt last week.
As far as USPS goes, it's no surprise why they are about to go belly up. The Fed Gov dropped them and they can't manage their $ let alone their time. I had two more issues over the last few days before christmas with gifts I had purchased. One included me calling Sears, raising hell on the phone with them for 45 minutes while they contacted the USPS and basically told them to get their asses in gear and deliver an item that had been sitting at hte post office for 3 days. I got it the afternoon after my angry phone call.Unless you're using the USPS Priority, nothing seems to move with a purpose with those people.

Glad you got your stuff. I know everyone has been concerned and rightfully so, but I'm glad people are recognizing USPS sucked in terms of unreal ship times.
