Hi, I'm Karen from NJ. I drive an '08 Legacy it's my 3rd subie...the other two were Leggies too '97 & '01.

Sarah from NASIOC told me about this site.

I wish I could do some mods but it's a lease it'll be going back in June:(

Then I might go for an Impreza. :)

Was leasing alright? I mean like, I love doing stuff to my car but leasing would probably really put a damper on it.

The same damper you get by buying a car and modding it which risks canceling the warranty.

This was my first lease...it wasn't too bad I like that fact that I get a new car every 2 years and don't have to worry about it having problems like older cars. I pay something like $187 a month which is a nice price.

I don't know much about cars so I couldn't do the mods myself and honestly I don't know what I would even do. In the cars that I've owned in the past I just did little things like had a system put in and had neons put in. I'm gonna be 30 so I think I'm getting a little too old now to have a really loud system and in a few years I'll prob have some kids so that wouldn't be good for their ears anyway. :eek: I just really miss the neons.

My family would also get on my case if I did too many things to the car saying I could use my money for something more useful or practical like saving for a house etc. So at least I don't have to listen to that from them.

What kind of mods do you guys have?

I love the car it has a lot of things I like like the leather seats and this is my first car that has a sunroof. I love the color I think that is my favorite part. My mom has the same car but hers is gold she doesn't like the color of hers but they only had 3 of these special legacies left at the dealership she could have had gold or blue and she really doesn't like blue. My brother has a red 02 Legacy it's in my neighbors driveway across the street in the front view pic of my car....we're a legacy family mine and my moms were our 4th and 5th leggies.

My next door neighbor loves my car so much it's convinced her that once her lease on her vibe is up she's getting a legacy.

A lot of the guys on NASIOC make fun of my car because it's a dealership's customized version called a Legacy Elite. I got it at Bill Kolb Jr. Subaru. Bill makes all kinds of specialized Subarus he's also got his own version of Forester called the Estate...and a Legacy GTX

Well congrats on loving your subie! It is very nice.

But this Bill guy... those "special Bill editions" lol dont seem to have anything special edition on them besides the stick on spoiler and an X after gt lol and I dont see anything special on the "elites", unless im m ssing something....

He adds aftermarket leather, sunroofs, some have heated seats and other little extras that usually cost extra. Supposedly he's the worlds largest Subaru dealer (but who knows how true that is) and since he sells so many he can afford to do the extra things at little to no cost.

Also, with the special edition cars the price is set like a Saturn you pay whatever the sticker says no haggling when you're buying.

Oooo thats why that leather looked a bit more fancy lol. Well at least the price is set thats a +!! Where is this place? Jersey?

It's in Orangeburg, NY.

I originally went there to buy a 5 door impreza - I was shopping around for the best price and he was about 3-4,000 less than the other subaru dealers in my area. They weren't brand new cars they had about 4,000 miles on them so they were going for about $16,000 while the other dealers near me were $19 or higher. A lot of the cars he has were fleet cars and those places don't keep the cars very long before they get new ones or they are cars that the dealers drive around in that's why so little mileage.

I ended up with the legacy in the end because to finance or lease the Impreza I would have had to put $10,000 down to keep the payments at an affordable monthly payment. The dealer also said the financing would be more money because even with the low mileage it would be considered a used car and used vs new get different rates. With the set price Legacy it was only $2600 down and then I get to keep the rest of my money for the condo I'm saving for.
