Before you decide to do this, make sure that it IS what you want to do. It's easy to get them off, hard to get them back on. Some like to take off just the Subaru emblem, others take off the STI/Impreza WRX emblem. A google search will give you pictures of other trunks. I just did this write up so that there would be an easier reference for everyone.
This applies mainly to 05's and below. After that, I've been told that Subaru made the emblems secured into the trunk. If you pop them out, you have pretty little holes.
If you aren't sure of what a debadge trunk looks like. Check out the attached image. I'm sorry I didn't get pictures during the actual process, but I was to busy doing it and didn't think about it. It's not hard at all, it will take about an 30 minutes to an hour to do.
So any way this, here goes:
What You Will Need:
-Floss* / Thread / Fish Line.(I used floss and it sucked. It kept breaking. Great minty flavor, crappy sawing ability.)
-Goo Gone, Bug and Tar remover.
-Polish and soft cloth.
-Hair Dryer(this is optional, I didn’t use one.)
Process
1)If you are going to use the hair dryer, heat the emblems for several minutes to loosen up the glue behind them.
2)Take the floss or fishing line and slide it behind the emblems and move it back and forth in a sawing motion. This will saw through the glue holding it to the trunk. Be careful not to pry on it, you don’t want to pull up any paint with the letter.
3)Once you have all the emblems removed, spray them down with the Goo Gone, or Bug and Tar remover. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes or so. Then rub it off with your finger. If you use a credit card, be careful of scratching your paint. You will probably have to do this several times. This was the part that took the longest for me.
4)Go wash your car.
If you still faintly see the SUBARU, take the polish and rub it off.
That’s it, you are now badge less. If anyone has anything else they’re used to remove the glue on the truck, post it up. I used Turtle Wax.
