If you're looking for a last minute gift for a Subaru fan, I just finished reading "Subaru Impreza: The Road Car & WRC Story" and it has my glowing recommendation.

It covers Subaru's origins and the beginning and development of the Impreza, including detail on the various trims offered throughout the world, as well as coverage of the Subaru World Rally Team's exploits all the way from the car's inception. The book was written a few years ago and ends at the 2006-2007 model Impreza.

It's about 200 pages with full color photos and interviews, and is written in an easy to read (even when covering technical data), informative narrative.

The Amazon site says it's $26 for softcover, though I got mine in hardcover for about $13 from half.com (in like new condition). You probably don't want to buy a used book for someone but half.com most likely would have the best deals for new copies.
