Hey Ladies!! Figured I'd Paint my wheels too so here are some pics of the progress. What color will they end up?

It snowed pretty good pretty much the day after I put my summers on. Gotta get these done before the 14th so i can rock my "&!*@(#" wheels along with Sarah's Pinks @ 48hrs!!

Thanks but 48hrs tore them up pretty bad. Rock chips like crazy from the back roads we were on. I'll post pics up soon:(

Sorry to hear about those nasty rock chips.

What sort of paint did you use ?

What temperature was it when you layed down the paint ?

I can't help wondering if the paint didn't get hot enough to bond properly to the wheels.

Thanks i followed HQP's write up and used Krylon X-Metals in Purple and also used the Rustoleum bare metals primer. Worked on them in a heated garage and left them there over a 2 days span for priming, painting and clear coating.

I don't think I really have rock chips on my wheels... Did you clear coat enough?

aww sorry to hear about the rock chips... but i agree with hp... they're just winter wheels, right!

doin 125 on the sanded/salted back roads did them in;) 2 coats of primer, 5 coats of purple and 3 coats of clear in a heated garage. Besides being high for the day they cured perfectly. Yes they are winter wheels that'll also be the dailys:P Just haveta retouch them up when the weather gets good. The track/summer wheels are Gray BBS rims.

What sort of paint did you use? I would like to do a very fluorescent color at one point or another. I have always used duplicolor everything.

Wow... loving the purple... and the pink on sarah's wheels... can't wait to have mine powdercoated... i'm just gonna be patient cause i only have one set of wheels right now :lol:


soon enough i'll have a spare set to roll on while mine get done.

She just repainted them the same color to fix the damage from last winter.
