So I bought the Forester with big plans for it and here is it's progress =)

Stats:
Bought it in Nov 09
2001 Forester L
2.5l, 5 spd
Blue Ridge Pearl
120k on body/60k on engine swap
new clutch/brakes/fluids
stock stock stock!

Progress:
Within the first few weeks I researched alot about lowering the Forester. Ended up liking the stance of 02-03 WRX springs and suspension on the forester. The SF forester is a funny beast... shares the chassis of the GC but strut wise has the GC front and GD rear. So I bought a used set of 03 wagon springs/struts with low miles and just reused the tophats.

Next, I found a guy on Nasioc selling his stock STi cat back exhaust with very little miles on it and talked him down to $70 for the midpipe and muffler.

Sourced a used Borla UEL Borla header for the 2.5 from a friend who returned his RS back to stock and got it for $90 or $100 don't remember... lol

Everything was put on the car in one day and I was Soooosososoososoo pleased!!! :love: The same weekend I pulled off all the rims and repainted them a dark gunmetal. Figured I would keep the stockies on through winter since they have brand new tires, this will also give me time to find my dream rims (FSTi mmmm) I also painted the "blingy" chrome grill gunmetal to match the rims. Same day I also removed the cross bars on the rack to make it a little more streamlined.

The rumble of the exhaust was exaclty what I was looking for... not too loud cruising but very noticible in lower RPMs, and I LOVE the imprinted "STi" on the tip. The stance is good and low. The ass end is a bit saggy which was to be expected, so I have 1/2" spacers on order to bump it up a lil to even it out. Eventually I think I will find a set of STi Pinks to put on though =)

Whats next?
* I have some Hella Optilux amber fog bulbs waiting to go in

* Have a stock keyless entry system on the way (who opts NOT to get this option when you get a new car?!)

* STi sway bars and Whiteline endlinks. Upgrade mounts to STi as well. H brace and fender braces

* Rimssssss n tires. Thinking LGT rims or BBS. Getting tired of the Rota look...

* tint =) my baby hates it when the bright sunlight hits her.... and the foz has HUGE windows!

* STi pinks (possibly? lol)

* JDM hood/grill

* bake the lights and turn signals: take amber plastic out of turns and black out inner edge chrome on lights

* Paint the lame lower "two-tone" plastic panels to match the body and also get an SF spoiler.


ENGINE/SWAP PLANS!
I've cut a deal with my dad that if I find a good deal on an 02-03 low miles WRX swap w harness that he can have my low miles 2.5 for his Outback IF he does the swap for me. =) He said Hellll Yaaaaaa!

So, a 2.0 EJ20 swap journal entry will be in the future =) Gotta make the Foz quick!

We have an 02 WRX with 06 STI swap already and I just wanted something a little different. The WRX is hard to squeeze my 2y/o into, not to mention a bit too loud/harsh ride for everyday toting kids around in. I LOVE driving it when I'm alone though! lol

The SF5 body style forester came with a turbo option everywhere else but here in the states :rolleyes: So I thought it would be a little different to build fast a grocery getter with tons of cargo room :lol: hehe

Haha good point! I experienced something similar when I whizzed around at 75-80 on IL highways and had a couple "oops" moments, but the cops didn't end up coming after me. Sure it took a while, but that little Korean car could eventually get rolling pretty fast (well, as fast as I dared to go considering the speed limit on the expressway in my area is 55 :huh:)

Funny thing. I put my amber fogs in last weekend and now I have cops looking at me more :confused: huh. Not to mention older hondas try racing me more than before.. lol Weeird.

I put my stock alarm module in this weekend... easier than I thought it would be. The real bitch was getting the dumb transmitters programmed. lol! on/off/on/off/on/off and on and on. So I finally have remote unlock/alarm. Woohoo!

Gonna buy some bike racks shortly. Getting back onto biking after having my daughter. It's going to be even more fun now. I get to buy her a little pull along trailer to attach to my bike. Keeping to the trails though. I think mothers who bike with their kids on public roads are insane. Hell, I don't even trust drivers when I'm walking down a road!

*Melissa*!!! YES YOU DO need to come visit! :D The foz is filthy right now as we went to Leavenworth and hit a few trails in it. It was a BLAST! lol You need to see it though! How is your new job treating you??

Hmm latest on the Fozz.... Got an STI rear sway to put on, endlinks, some Whiteline Heavy Duty sway mounts.

Found 3 Rota SDRs on CL for $100!!! And thats including Blizzak tires in new condition. So the plan now is to buy two more Rota SDRs, actually put them on teh Bugeye STi and throw the 04 Goldie BBS's off the STi onto my Foz!! woohoo! Im excited.

Other than that the project has put off just a little since I just bought a horse. Yes you heard me, a horse. And they are pricey to upkeep! lol. But I'm still moving forward with teh Foz.. just took a little $$$ break from it =P

Alright so I've done a bit more to the STi and the Forester since I've last posted.

I went ahead and finally grew some balls and baked the headlights on both the cars! On the BugeyeSti I didn't black out everything. I painstakenly taped and cut it with an exacto knife to obviously keep the headlight area clear but also the parking light area chrome as well. Leaving the marker area next to the headlights clear gave it a nice aggressive look. Smoked out everything else and I love it! Ordered some chrome amber turn signals and they look pretty sweet against the black. I also did the foresters lights as well and it turned out pretty nice! Alot less area to tape than the bugeye so that made the process much quicker =)

I also picked up a GC AEM intake and a GC (which fits SF fozs') Whiteline front swaybar for $100 together. Last weekend the STI rear swaybar was put on along with the Whiteline Heavy Duty Swaybar mounts. The car feels like a new one! No crazy fat ass turns anymore..lol!

Goldies look awesome on dark coloured vehicles like Jessica's Fozzz. I am not so sure how good they look on silver cars like that STi.

I didn't know that there was such a thing as a bug eyed STi. I thought the STi was first available in the MY 2004 when the newer Prodrive styled front end was first realeased ?

Yep Yep... Everything out of an 04 STI was put into this bugeye =) Engine, VF39, tranny was rebuilt with JDM RA internals, wiring harness, complete dash, seats, carpet, trunk etc... It's a legit full STI swapped bugeye!

I'm currently fighting with Caleb over continuing our wheel trade idea....

Rota SDRs in Gunmetal are gonna go on his.

The reason why he is kinda trying to keep the goldies on is to keep true to the whole STI swap thing. But I just keep telling him to not worry about it.. lol (in hopes that *I* will still get the goldies...hehe) The SDRs would look nice on my car as well, but I have always loved BBSs. I always sourced them to go on my VWs before and also on my E30 325is. So yeah, I have a BBS <3 for sure =P

*so heres the latest update* We found a set of 05 STI seats/door cards for a good deal. I thought against it for awhile so we put em up for sale. Then everyone talked some sense into me and now I now have some gorgeous blue STI seats in the foz to match the bugeye seats! I was originally very concerned with having mismatched seats, but I got over it with everyones urging that once I got it tinted that the mismatch wouldnt even phase me. Now that they are in, OOOmMMMgGGGG!!! They feel so much more secure than my stock seats. And they match my car perfectly! Whooo!

So, if anyone needs some STI door cards or rear seats let me know! They are useless in the foz..lol

I was thinking maybe get some blue alcantra dye on your door fabric, and possibly the rear seat as well. Not sure how well it would go with the light grey / beige of the rest of the interior though. Maybe dye the plastic interiour stuff a dark black.

I think it is certainly worth thinking about before you under go such a drastic change, though.

Nice Foz! Rear swaybar is second on my mod list for the Foz.

I think the Gold BBS will look awesome on your FOZ.. I am not a fan of gold wheels on any of the silver Imprezas but gold on blue looks really sweet.
