I've noticed the behavior of the subscribed threads in the User CP as well as the "New Posts" area is different here than on other forums I'm on that also use vBulletin. On those, the subscribed threads that have new responses will stay on the User CP, but be in plain text instead of bold text after you go look at the new responses and then come back to the User CP. Here, they just go *poof*. If I post in a thread I'm subscribed to, and want to edit my post or add to it before anyone else adds a new reply, I can't easily locate it on my User CP or under new posts, but rather have to dig for it either in the forum or hit "show all subscribed threads"

...same with the New Posts. The search only shows threads I haven't viewed before, so if I view a thread, then navigate away from it and want to find it again on the new posts page after I think of something to add to it, I have to dig a bit to locate it again because New Posts seems to leave out anything I've already viewed.

It's not a "problem" really, just something I noticed that is different from other similarly-formatted forums and wondered if that was an option you turned off, or if I missed a setting somewhere to make it show up...

I have NO IDEA on the subscribed threads. It's something we'll have to look into. As for new threads, I think it's common for them to not show up under new threads once you view them?

I'll talk to Jer about it.

I've seen newly posted threads show up on the User CP right after I post them elsewhere, which is why I was getting frustrated here, having to dig for the thread I started just to add to it  :p Thanks for checking

If you click "New Posts" and you get the message of "No new posts" there is a link in the box that you can click to display the latest threads from the last 24 hours.
edit: it'll be something like this:

As for the "being in plain text rather than bold", I'm not sure I understand? If you do "view new posts" and all of those are bold. You click a thread, read it, click on "new posts" again and it is there but only in plain text? If so that indicates you already read it, and I think it is like that on all VB forums by default?

UserCP for Subscribed threads I think is the same. When you initially come to the site, hit your usercp and subscriptions the threads that have new replies will be bolded. Are you saying they are not bold but show up as having new replies to them? Once you click that link in the subscribed thread list to view it, and then go back they will "disappear" out of the list until another new reply is added, but can still view them all by listing all subscriptions; however, you can organize them by creating folders to stick them in though, so rather than having one huge list you can sort them out into categories if you want.

I hope I am understanding this right?

Also, what browser are you using? Is it a beta version of Chrome/Firefox/Opera, or an old version of IE or something?

What I described happens in all browsers. I'll try to get some screenshots tomorrow of NASIOC and here to demonstrate the difference I'm talking about...

*takes deep breath*

I arrive at good ol' nabisco and go to my User CP and find:

I decide to view a thread by clicking the little "view first unread post" arrow preceeding the title, then click User CP to come back, and it looks like this:
http://i781.photobucket.com/albums/yy96/hex_kitten/subiegirls/usercp2.jpg

For craps and giggles, here's what the "New Posts" search looks like after I view the thread:

Post split because subiegirls only allows 7 images...also kinda odd. I'm used to being allowed 10.

Then I came here, and checked my User CP:
http://i781.photobucket.com/albums/yy96/hex_kitten/subiegirls/usercp3.jpg

A glance at New Posts looks like this before I read anything:
http://i781.photobucket.com/albums/yy96/hex_kitten/subiegirls/newposts2.jpg

I viewed a thread and clicked User CP to come back to find the thread *poof* no longer listed:
http://i781.photobucket.com/albums/yy96/hex_kitten/subiegirls/usercp4.jpg

Also no longer listed in New Posts:
http://i781.photobucket.com/albums/yy96/hex_kitten/subiegirls/newposts4.jpg

I'll say again: It's not really a "problem", just an observation. I've found ways around it, but I'm just curious why at least 2 other forums I'm on all day, every day that are powered by vBulletin don't act like this. We're all creatures of habit, and I'm used to the other way, so this way is making the experience feel clunky. I often browse here while I'm at work, and often don't remember where a particular thread was located after I've read it. Makes it hard to come back to it if I think of a reply an hour or a day later :(

I'm not sure if it matters, but nabisco is vBulletin version 3.7.0 and the other forum is version 3.6.8

Forum version shouldn't matter. Thank you for posting pictures, it makes it easier to see what you're talking about. There are a LOT of options in vBulletin. I was almost overwhelmed with setting up the forum. I would think it is just not a standard pre-selected choice and it's something that needs to be manually changed. I'll see what I can do.

Post split because subiegirls only allows 7 images...also kinda odd. I'm used to being allowed 10.

7 is vBulletin's default. I've upped this to 10.

I've spent quite a bit of time tonight trying to figure out this "subscription" thing and I haven't found the settings yet. I'll keep working on it when I can.
