My phone took a crap and died this morning. It was an lg VU and i've only had it for a year. The touch screen stopped working. So this morning I had to go buy a gophone since i'm still on my parents plan and am not a registered user yet, and they're in SF for the weekend. I'm sad.

Yeah, the go phone sucks. It's so basic I feel stupid because it's harder for me to work lol. But thursday i'm going to order another vu. Hopefully they can salvage all my numbers and stuff on my old phone.

Well if the screen just stopped working it could be a manufacturing damage and they should replace it for free... thats what happened w/ my brand new moto cliq... and i dont have insurance on it, they just gave me a new one... but if the phone has the water damage spot pink by the battery, or if it looks lke you hurt it lol then they wont replace it... I would take it to the store, doesnt hurt to try... and save your pocket sum cash...

I did take it in and the girl said that it doesn't look like drop damage and the spot isn't pink but theres a mark on the screen. Idk from what I never take it in the bathroom when I shower or anything. But they said it'd be $50 to order a new one with insurance. Lame.

Well $50 isnt bad... my deductible is $150!!! Sux big time, so thats why i cancelled the insurance I didnt feel it was worth it...

Yeah, but I wasn't a registered user until my parents came back from sf to add me, i won't get it for a week if they order it and i don't get paid until thursday. So i bought a cheapy go phone to get me through the week.

I believe LG has a one year manufactures warranty on their phones. I would contact them. as long as its not smashed or water damage they will probably fix or replace it for you. :)

Actually at&t only has a $50 deductible as well, but it wouldn't have came for around a week because they didn't have them in stock which is why I had to get a go phone, I can't live without a phone for a week lol.

maybe in your area, but in our area it is $150. i just bought my phone (blackberry bold 9700) and that's the deductible now.

Someone stole my Motorola Cliq!!! Wahhhhh, and I didnt have insurance, i didnt know that you can't add it more than 15 days after you purchase the phone, Im so sad.... So now I have to do what you did and get a temp until i can afford to buy another one which is $400!!! ughhhhhh....

Like iphones cost a fortune to buy straight up... but a ipod touch with the exact same features and abilities costs half as much.. only different is you don't pick up a cell phone service for internet use... you gotta look for wifi...... and you can't make phone calls on it. thats it!
So you pay the price of another ipod touch for a mic placed in the unit... and a stronger att i am guessing so it can pick up cell service *shrug*

And yes phones are ridiculously expensive, the $400 i paid for this thing is like half of what a freaking lap top would cost me like wtf.... These companies are ripping people off bigtime, It prob only costs them like $75 to manufacture these refurbished phones.....

You knooowww they have this thing called the iphone mini. It looks exactly like it's made my apple but it's not, it's the size of a credit card and does everything the iphone does except it has windows instead of safari. And you can find it on ebay for less than $100 and you can use it for any company I think and put up to 3 sim cards in it. That's probably what i'm going to get. Be like "yeah you didn't know apple has this super exclusive mini iphone, oh . . . well it's only for EXCLUSIVE customers I guuueeessss" lol.

Deals are like my phone i got right now i got for free through verizon. because i signed a deal where i have to have them as a subscriber for 2 years straight or else be charged early termination fee's and other stuff.

Phone retailed for like $250 if i just bought it straight up.

i got my phone for $50. i got a $100 mail in rebate. a lot of companies will match places like amazon if the price is only applicable for signing a new contract.

I'm on my second replacement Sidekick...thankfully, both have had defects that were covered under the insurance and were replaced for free. I might switch to a Nexus One come August since I'll be eligible for an upgrade then. (Not sure how this is going to pan out, but I have some time and the current phone isn't acting up yet) :p

Yep idk about gigs but it does everything an iphone does except it runs on windows instead of safari. I'm an apple girl but I cannot afford the iphone right now. So until then i'm using this lol, I got it in pink.

They're for work the BBs, I wouldn't sell you a piece of garbage anyways. Yeah blackberry keeps track of all their phones, you have to register them at the vendor who calls BB tech support so they can put it in their system. What sucks is that everything goes through their system and they have this tyranny on their phones. Save some money and get an iphone/andriod. The cool thing is once the IMEI/PIN is registered you can pretty much swap the sims out unless the phone is locked to BIS/BES then you're screwed.

Yeah I'm hoping to get the backflip from Motorola. It would be sweet in my line of work, just pop open ssh and walla! Plus the full keyboard and screen are pretty freaking cool! I still like the HTC droids though.:p

^i'd be concerned with the backflip's keyboard being external... i carry my phone in my pocket and in certain situations i have other things in my pockets too, but im always pretty cautious about facing the screen away from things that might damage it... with the backflip either way you face the phone it seems you might run risks of damaging something by it rubbing up against things.

i kinda wish that I could have waited just a few more months before buying my htc eris... the HTC awesome seems like at least a slightly better phone. not to mention now that i've done the OS upgrade... web browsing makes me want to punch babies, i have to zoom every screen and as of lately it's been resetting the browser if i open a link to a high content page. hopefully someone fixes this soon.

keyboard on the backflip is solid as a rock, it's one piece. As long as you don't sit on it should be fine. Of course you sit on any phone it's in for the worse (: If the keyboard brakes oh well, just double tap the bottom and a touch keyboard comes on like a iphone.
