So a few months back the agency I work for posted a position which is a promotion from my current position. I got an interview, and was told by the 3interviewies that they were very impressed. But one of the other butt smoochers that works up there with these people got the job. Whatever ....

Now they posted another one of the same position. I have an interview on Wednsday for this. It is again with the same 3 interviewers... So Im big on always responding to "Do you have any questions for us?" And I dont want to ask the same questions that I asked last time. Which were:

What is the number one factor you are looking for in the candidate?
How soon are you looking to fill the position?
What is the current workload (cases pending) for this position?

So I am looking for samples of questions to ask at the end of the interview. Mind you Ive been working here for almost two years, so I am pretty familiar with the way the entire office works, what the pay is and so on....
I drove myself nuts finding the three questions that I asked the first time so at this point Im in nervous/brain fart mode...

Any help will be appreciated TX!

Try these:
Can you describe an ideal employee? (this is close to yours, just worded differently, just a possibility could they really remember the exact question you asked before)

What are the most immediate challenges of the position that need to be addressed in the first three months? (also kind of the same just worded differently)

or something along the lines of these.

What would you expect me to accomplish in this job?
Can you describe a typical day for someone in this position?

hope these give you some help!

I would ask:

"As you may remember, I interviewed for this same position a few months ago and wasn't hired. What skills do I need to improve on in order for you to consider me?"

or you can word it as:

"What qualifications and/or experieince do I need to improve on in order for you to consider me?"

When they answer, you can give them a detailed plan of how you intend to improve your skills and what you will do to make it worth their while. Also, let them know you're asking this question because you're serious about the position and really think you have a shot at it, or else you wouldn't be applying for it again!

I will try to think of some more, but I hope this one helps.

I'm not sure how to word this properly, but you could ask them about what kind of room to continue moving up in the company this position allows/opens doors for.

Good luck!

Def like question 2 &3!!! Ill probably be using these two!!

I really like the point your making here, but I don't know if I want to address it because I know for a fact they are going to mention attendance lol, I asked something along the lines of this after I didnt get it the first time and they told me attendance and plus the girl that did get it, had been volunteering to help out in that department w/o pay for months.... butt kisser like I said... lmao... so I dunno if I want to remind them to of my flaw again!! ?? What do u think?

Psshhh hahaha I wish....I usually ask this for past interviews, but this is a a Govn't agency, honestly only room to move up from here would be if the manager of the unit left for some reason, which I highly doubt because she just got that position a few months back lol, OR to go get a bachelors degree and become a disability examiner (which is a completely different unit).... And I dont want to listen to them BS me about all the opportunities there are to move up cuz I know they are slim to none.... There's a kid w/ a msters degree who has been working here for 6 yrs and hes applied for multiple management positions and they keep brushing him off, So Im just hoping to get a few years experince and hopefully move on to another agency...

Just remember, you are interviewing them as much as they are interviewing you. That's the attitude that I take into a formal interview. You don't want to ask questions that would have them question your abilities and/or punctuality, you kind of want to come off confident, not cocky. One I like to ask is, "What is the projected career path for someone in this position?" and a follow up "What type of advancement opportunities does this position create within the company?"

Good luck!

Its done!! Yayy, it was easier than expected, I did pretty well, now its just a waiting game until they announce the candidate which will take another 3-4weeks!!

thanks everyone for your imput! I used the questions that JJ posted, and I think they were impressed with them because they had to think about the response a bit too long haha!!
