I don't know much about intakes... but on the BOV I recommend a recirculating one.
Don't know how much 04-08 is but when I had mine set to 100% atmospheric I started throwing a system to lean code. Once I went back to 50-50 it was good. GFB is a pretty "healthy" brand for Subaru. HKS is popular but in my experience it is linked to running rich/back firing/fireballs.

My experience with a cold air intake and a bov on our 09 was not a great one. I was told by Theo @ F&S that a good drop in filter is better especially if your ever going to get your car tuned or run a cobb port. He said that the stock air box with a drop in works much better. Also, if you put a cold air intake & bov on your car you will have to get your car tuned because it will cause the car to stall out & backfire. The backfire was a pain but the stalling out was dangerous because the idle would just drop if you were not paying attention when you were coming to a stop.
If you purchase a bov you should get the TurboXS 50/50 hybrid because it is made for the 08+ WRX. It isnt as loud as the others but you will be much more happy that when your going thru a parking lot people arent diving behind their cars thinking they are under attack.
We sold the cold air intake & bov and purchased a really good drop in filter & the hybrid bov & havent had any problems on either of our cars since.
Hope that helps

the other thing about a cold air intake is you have to look at what environment you're in... if you're in a cold area, i don't think you'd want to make it even colder... please correct me if i'm wrong because i don't know much about this stuff...
and dan loves his gfb 50/50 bov. :D

The 08+ cars are very sensitive to intake changes. If you are running the stock tune, most intakes will be OK. If you decide later to get an AccessPORT or tune, you will need to have the tune made specifically for that intake.
Going with a 100% recirc BOV will be your best bet. That way, you wouldn't have to worry about the car dying out, and with a cold air intake, you will be able to hear it a lot better!
Also a cold air intake is totally fine for any weather conditions, unless you are driving through 3 feet of water! But as you know, you shouldn't be doing that anyway!
The PERRIN intake was engineered to run great with the stock tune, it will add power, and sound! Also if you purchase an AccessPORT later, we have tunes for it! That means you don't have to go to a shop and pay them for a protune!

I agree! We get calls quite often about people with Vent to atmosphere complaining their cars stall and buck :( Go recirc and cold air intake!

You'd be better off with a perrin drop in filter (Foam) and then a perrin catch can. CAI (Cold air intakes) are really not that much of an improvement for our cars. You'd be better off with a bigger Inter cooler than spending money on a CAI. I would keep the stock BOV, if you like the sound you can remove the snorkel in the fender!

I have an AEM cold air intake, i have on 02 though. I havent had any problems with it. Cold days, rainy days etc. :p
And for BoV if you like sound, get the turbo XS RFL (really ****ing Loud) thats the one i want to get. I have currently a perrin BoV

The RFL, while being a crazy loud BOV, might cause your car to run like poo poo during venting due to blowing out metered air. Running a recirc BOV with a good intake will help make the recirc valve sound a bit louder :D
