Because some b!tch decided not to swerve for a huge chunk of rubber on the freeway, it flew up and took out my drivers side mirror and dented and scratched my door.

Good thing it's pretty much just the mirror.

A little shopping therapy always helps me. :)

Yeah, I was thinking if it had been a little more to the right it probably would've hit my windshield and then me. . . and I was right next to a big rig. Freaky part is I watched final destination the night before.

Oh and the dresses are amazing though! They're all bright and flowy I want to wear them but i've got work. Yuck.

people suck plain and simple..... common sense sometimes doesn't exist amongst certain people and we have to pay for it.

I would have taken the broken mirror and threw it at the person who did that right in the head and see if it knocked some sense into them

So I went to my parents to call the insurance company because I thought I might need some of their information because i'm on their plan. They can't give me a few minutes of their time. My dad is just being a jerk like he normally is acting like it was my fault and my mom is too busy sewing my sister's prom dress. Even though my sister (who is going to FIDM to be a fashion designer) is just chatting with her friends instead of sewing her own freakn dress. I guess that dress is more important than my safety. Oh and I was "overreacting" getting upset about my car. Yeah I just had to get that off my chest because i'm really mad right now.

DEF should have taken the plate down first thing, but I know, when your in a situation like that your thinking of who you wanna punch out first lol. So now you gotta think, your insurance co. is going to charge u a deductible for putting in a claim, which may be more than the mirrors going to cost you. Your better off just buying it on your own and saving your insurance from going up. Is your mirror comepletely blue or is is blue/black, cuz I think Ed mentioned a few weeks ago that they have a blue wrx wagon at his job, where he can get the mirror for real cheap but its completely blue...

If you need a mirror give me your vin number and I can get you the part number and cost for the replacement. I wouldn't go through the insurance because they'll raise you and charge you like 500$

Damn, that's pretty crappy no one seems to want to help you. :(

At least it was just the mirror and the lady didn't keep going to push you off the road and cause something 100 times worse.

I hear that sometimes if you go through insurance they will quote you, take the $500 out of the quote and send you a check, if that's the case i'll definitely do it because I need my bumper fixed and I could find a mirror for a lot cheaper than the ones from the dealer. Which means I might have extra cash to get new rotors and brakes too. My cars all screwed up right now lol.

A bumper and a mirror will cost you around the same as the deductible, so you'll be paying higher insurance for a few years as a result if you do the claim, instead of coming out of pocket, Beleive us we've been through it... I mean if you dont have the funds to pay to fix it on your own and it really is a big deal to you to fix it, then go through the insurance. But if you can hold off for a few months and save the cash your better off when it comes to your insurance. By the looks of the mirror its not that bad, its still workable lol, ours is cracked like that too and missing a few chunks of glass but I can still see out of it, been like that for almost a yr now! lmao!

Aslo keep in mind. If you go through through the insurance: Say they quote you $750 to repair the damages. They deduct the $500 deductible. that leaves you with $250 to repair. The shop is going to charge you close to the $750 to repair as well, you;ll still have to come out of pocket either way and your insurance will go up too...

I already checked, my insurance won't go up for it because it wasn't my fault, it's sort of like a hit and run. Plus I also need to get the dent out of my door out and the scratches it made repainted. The wires on the mirror are cut now, so I would need everything, I can't just stick it back on it doesn't work anymore at all.

o wow so the mirror completely fell off, wow she really did some bad damage...that bitch! What insurance do you have so I can switch to them when mine expires cuz they sound great! :D

Yeah, it was hanging on by one wire all the others ripped so I just cut it off because it was banging on my door and it wouldn't reach to put it in my car. It's statefarm i'm on my parents plan so it's pretty good.

Lol bannerd, then i'd have to buy both though!

So the insurance company called, it's a $500 deductible and has no effect on my premium at all, they said all I need to do is figure out what shop to go to and they'll send me a check.

No way that can cost more than $500 to buy and do yourself. Don't waste your time going to a shop/dealer for labor. There has to be someone near you that can help you.

Yeah but I'm also getting the huge crack in my bumper fixed, and the dents and scratches on the bumper and the door. So when you add up the mirror plus all the wiring and stuff, the bumper, and door you don't think it will be more than $500???

Ohhh... bumper and door painting maybe. You should get a quote for it all. And then do the mirror yourself. The new mirror will have wiring in it. When you get the door card off there will be a harness that you can take the old wiring out and just plug in the new one. Super easy, yo!

That's all it takes to change the mirror?!? I think that's what i'll do then, because I know a few people who have extra mirrors. Then I could use the money for new brakes and rotors! Man this car is bleeding my dry but I still love it.

And thanks guys.

Yeah. You may need a socket wrench and/or screw drivers for the mirror but it's pretty simple.

Welcome! :)

But yeah the insurance will cover the paint etc. and that's totally worth it.

Maybe i'll just get the pain and dents done and get the mirror myself. I took out my dash trim and painted it the other day. So i'm getting better with tools lol.

Sorry to hear that...last October someone took my mirror off the Sonata while I was parked in a parking lot with NO cars within 100 feet. I was baffled.

The mirror was gone, and this is what I found:

and my mom is too busy sewing my sister's prom dress. Even though my sister (who is going to FIDM to be a fashion designer) is just chatting with her friends instead of sewing her own freakn dress.

Sadly, I see a lot of this and I'm in school for fashion design. To each their own, but so many students in my major dislike sewing/patternmaking/draping and seem to just want to draw pretty pictures all day. Having creative ideas is great and all, but there's more to it than that...[/offtopic]

I hope you get things figured out. You've probably already done something by now, but I figured I'd mention that it can be a good idea to get a couple estimates to get familiar with some shops and see what really needs to be done, then when insurance wants to see the car, have them meet you at the shop you think you might want to use. They most likely won't like the shop's estimate, but at least having them look at it together means the shop guys can fight for you and help point out what the car really needs. I'm having issues with insurance fixing some hail damage right now, and I feel I'd be up shit creek without a paddle if the insurance adjustor would have made his (poor) estimate without the body shop guy present. Good luck! :)

Yeah sometimes my sister drives me crazy. She could get a full academic ride to any college and yet she chooses to go to fidm and get her GE done there instead of at a jc and save my parents some money. The funny thing is she was never the creative one, she never like to draw or get her hands dirty so when she decided to do that I was just like ummmm ok yeah cause that's cool now I guess.

Anyways haha yeah i've already picked out the shop so friday I was going to go there and get an estimate, I think what my insurance lady said was I just tell them and they just write a check, she didn't mention anything about them looking at the car too, but they also only had 2 specific places I could go to to get it fixed.
