Like we need one more thing to do for this website....... but I like it (just not in time for WBM). Who wants to be in charge of the committee. I can help, but I can't be in charge (yes, I swear that's possible). We'll donate $x's from each sale to a charity to feed people in some form. It can just be an on going thing from our website.

Also, we could charge companies/forums to advertise in the cookbook itself as sponsors.

That would be so much fun to do! Lets plan it! =P

^See above. Are you in charge?

I say we also have tasters before we actually decide what goes into the book. Have three of four people try the recipes, make sure they work and taste yummy!

I like the advertising also.
This can be what heps the meals on wheels you talked about in another thread. Or the site can use this money to help sponser a child in a 3rd world country. Just a thought.

And bunniboo, if you wanted to take on being the over seer of this I would be happy to help. This can be how the West supports the site, since the North-East pretty much does everything else! haha I couldn't do it all but I could do some.

thats actually a great idea.
The Cook Book that helps out a foundation that supports feeding needy individuals!

do we really need taste testers??? isnt that the whole part of cook book to look for something new and go with it??? just wondering? i like to grab a book and flip then just pick one

im_so_blue
05-06-2010, 05:49 AM
So next question would be are there any chefs in here to contribute. Or at least people who enjoy cooking and perhaps creating new recipes! :)

xxthat girlxx
05-06-2010, 11:20 AM
It's a site full of females. I'm sure that we could compile enough recipes for a small, fun book.

Let's form a committee before we clutter up this thread anymore. K thanks!

(+1 on the west getting involved!!)

I don't know if I would be in charge, but I will deff help out a crap load! My family owns a radio station here in Utah. We do a lot of trade with the Utah Food Bank. I could ask my dad if we could do a fundraser using the cookbooks.

subiemommy
05-06-2010, 02:10 PM
I'll hit a few printing shops to find out the cost of printing and get back to ya'll.

buniboo
05-06-2010, 02:40 PM
I just called the radio station and they're going to check around on pricing as well. They get discounts through different companies.

subiemommy
05-06-2010, 03:40 PM
^^ Discounts are always good! Make sure they mention proceds will be going to charity. Some places will cut you a deal if you are not profitting from it yourself.

One thing to consider is that we don't neccessarily want to do one run of the books. Yes, it costs less - BUT we need the $$ up front. If we can find a company (like I did for the calendars) that people can order individual cook books, we can do it year round and it makes everyone's lives easier.

We should look into lulu.com.

Ok I can look in to it when I get off work. Should we post this in a different thread for its own purpose. That way everyone knows where to post the recipies.

xxthat girlxx
05-08-2010, 04:44 PM
I went on lulu.com and did some poking. It looks like we could make a 45 page - perfect bound, 8.5" x 11", full color book for $14.50. Not too shabby.

Buniboo, I'm delegating a task to you, that doesn't mean you're in-charge yet, so don't worry!

Anyone who is interested on being on the committee to create a cookbook, please PM Buniboo. I'm going to make a special "committee" section on the forum that only those people on the committee can access. Buniboo, in a week, shoot me PM with all the people who are interested and I'll take care of making sure they have access.

Thanks everyone!

Hey it's Vince with turbo potato, it's so easy to place the potato on your subaru turbo, One! tin foil, two! wrap it, three! and place it. Don't be fooled by imitators, the potato will fall right off.. it's worthless!

im_so_blue
05-10-2010, 07:13 PM
could do some generic recipes

say something to do with chicken
burgers
hot dogs
and pizza

cause when your working on your car and no time really to cook a big meal.

What do car people end up doing

calling for food which results in the above food! or just firing up the bbq for a quick burger or dog

heres another idea for you ladies to think about

When you do your book how about organizing it in "Chapters"

say you have a

chapter on Grilling

a chapter on main course meals

chapter on snacks

chapter on deserts

and maybe even a chapter on cooking tips and tricks

or a idea with the tips and tricks add like a lil square of text on each page that contains a small simple trick or tip

like.... for example (even though all of us should know this)

"When cooking red meat should make sure it is cooked thorough before serving to reduce chances of catching disease's and parasites"

maybe even have a chapter on members favorite recipe

what would be extremely cool but i doubt could be pulled off (Unless we have some professional bakers on this forum) is how to make a Subaru shaped cake or something!
that would be awesome!

PSH. You were made to lead this project. I'll be there to back you the whole way. Do not fret moi cherie! I think that sounds great. I can already see the flour on my left cheek and the gear oil on my right cheek (p.s. this happened once in real life - no lie). :D

Before people blow up your inbox, should we create categories first?

Also, we prob don't want every page to look exactly the same but we have a few things to keep in mind, different recipes will take up different amounts of space. It will be hard to create exact templates. Are there any other graphic designers on here besides myself? ::cough:: ragdoll ::cough::

We want to create a book that males will want to buy too. I'm thinking we should use WRB, black and gray colors? Yay? Nay?

I like the idea of categories, something like, grilling, impress your date (obviously slightly fancier, atleast tasting, than most), turbo cooking (someone will have to test those to make sure they work on more than just a potato!), baking, I can't think of any others! haha

Love the color scheme.

another idea to go with the lil tips and tricks boxes i said about each page

if you didn't want the tips and tricks about a quick lil fact about subaru in each box for people to learn fun filled facts about their favorite car company and its cars!

subiemommy
05-13-2010, 06:16 PM
^^ That would be cool. I like how on Forza when it's loading a race it gives all the car fact. Doing that with Subie facts would be a neat addition to the cookbook.

I was thinking the cover should be a photo of food cooking on a turbo. Hahahaha. It just fits? Agreed that it being a contest is fun. But I don't think we should limit it to having a woman in the photo. Male members should be able to enter this contest. So no "woman" on the cover? Maybe just food and car?
