I've never been much of a chat-box user, but I could see it being a fun way to just sort of check in. I think it wouldn't be too hard to keep technical discussions in the forums, some websites prominently remind users of this by the chat-boxes.

Maybe we could hide the box like on NASIOC and have it accessible for the ones who want to use it

If you missed some of the chat and wanna catch up on it.. just read up in the chat box's "Archive" which has the whole thing right there

Yea, the chatbox will eat up bandwidth, and depending on her hosting company, they might not like that. Especially if it's shared hosting. :p

Hopefully for a while, the only major addition we made to the site was the chatbox, and apparently it was pegging the CPU on the server host, which they didn't like too much.

If this doesn't fix the issue we'll have to look at a dedicated server which will cost mucho buckos, but we'll see how bad the non-chat version of the site holds up.

There were non members in there and it was a bit out of control. The point was for chat not to post in the fb more than the forums. So it was deleted. If there was a way to keep it more chill and "chatty" then we could keep one with the subiegirls name in it IMO. As it was people were posting there more than here and that's not the goal we're aiming for.
