So I added a paranormal group to my FB and noticed I had a Subie friend that was a mutual friend of ours. So it got me wondering what everyone elses thoughts as far as ghosts were?

I'm kind of torn, still not sure what I fully believe.
Growing up I lived in a house where very odd things happened all the time. I was pushed down the stairs when no one was home, like felt a hand on my back pushed. Many people, including myself, have seen a little girl with brown hair dressed in 1950's attire. My Mom adopted a little girl when I was 15 and she befriended a girl (imaginary friend, or so we thought) named Ashley in the house. The friend never left the house with her and she discribed her friend as everyone else has the little girl they have seen. Funny noises, foot steps, white mists. Just random things.
But on the other hand I believe in God and I just don't know if he would let spirits walk freely among us, ya know. So I'm torn. But I can't find any other explination for the occurences in my old house.

What do you believe? Anyone ever been to a real ghost hunt or used the cool tools the ghost hunters have? I have been to a few, looking for answers. My Mom is completly into ghosts and has EMF readers, cameras up the butt and voice recorders. I've used a few of her things at a few different hunts, though she never made it to them with me.
Though I will add I do think a lot of the ghost hunters are bogus! I have been on a few where they have seen this or that and I'm right there and I don't "feel" anything, let alone see anything.

My friends whole family must be cursed or something because every single one of them see's ghosts and has some kind of encounter and they have some of the scariest stories ever, it kinda makes my hair on my neck stand up.

Again I never really had an encounter but always believed they exist. Just recently at the begining of May I went to Louisville, KY and visited my parents and while I was there I went and checked out the Waverly Hills Asylum (an old tuberculosis facility) and took a 2 hour ghost tour. Now this place is suppose to be one of the top 5 scariest places to visit. I don't know if it was the time of the day that I went or just all the other people on the tour ruining it, but I didn't really experience much. All the stories they told were creepy and what not but it just wasn't doing anything for me. Until we were on the 4th floor where they said that the 4 floor was one of the worst to live on and that there were more "encounters" on this floor than any other. So I was hoping for the best. So as we were walking down the hallway we were asked to turn off all camera's and flashlights so that way we could possibly experience something. At one point our guide asked if anyone wanted to walk down the hall way by ourselves and I was like oh hell yea! So I was able to walk down this long hallway and I could tell something was following me or was right next to me. As soon as the guide told me to stop and turn around I felt something brush up against my arm like someone was passing me. Once when I got back to the group, everyone said they saw a shadow following right behind mine and kept going once when I stopped. It was def. creepy, but I'm glad that I was able to experience.

Next time I go back to Kentucky I'm hoping to do either a 4 hour night tour or 8 hour stay and hopefully be able to have more encounters.

I know that place! Got chills as soon as I read Waverly! haha That was a cool experience! I don't like the big tours most places do. The more people the less likely you will experience anything.

We have a local paranormal group that does all kinds of tours and stys at different haunted places, never more than 10-20 people depending on where they are going. The bigger the plance the more people they will bring as they can split up. I think that is cool.

I'm trying to get in on a 20 man tour of what is said to be one of Utah's most huanted places, The Mill. I'll have to post an update in June if I do go.

My sis in law had a real crazy experience, they lived in CT, and she would smell and see ciggarette smoke randomly, doors would lock on their own, and her kids would wake up screaming and terrified in the middle of the night, they were too young to voice what they experienced (1-2yrs old). She then moved to WA on a navy base. Well they were experiencing the same things at the new place. What really got her was the ciggarete smoke. These were both 1 family houses, neither her or her husband smoke. She decided to contact a paranormal group. They came once and said she had many cold areas w/ high energy in the house, so they came back w/ a psycic. The psycic went straight to a bereau she had and told her that she bought this from a family in (city), CT. She agreed that yes it had been bought used from that city in CT. Psycic said the owner of it had died years ago and he thinks he left money in it and that his soul would not rest until the money was found, so he had been following the bereau!! She then burned it and hasnt felt anything since but that was f-in creepy. She said the lady was so on point about lots of stuff....

A friend of my G-ma's had a simular thing happening with a mirror she found in the basement of her "new" home. It was pretty so she hung it in the living room. Soon she noticed things moving, breaking and people saying they saw a man in the upstairs window as well as shodwos of a man in the mirror. She throw it out and things slowed, but never stopped. She went to a psycic as well and she said many things about the mirror and home that were true and detailed. then went on to some unknown family history abot the previous owners describing the man perfectly. sCared this lady to death, she was so happy the mirrow was gone. Years later when she was cleaning out the basement, the mirror was back. (Possibly brought back in by her daughter that loved it and thought it was beautiful, though to this day she denies it.) She ran up to the second floor where the man was normal spotted and tossed it out the window. She then swept up the peices and threw them out in several different trash cans in the neighborhood. She nor anyone else saw the man again. Is till never liked going to her house even though that happened before I was born and I wasn't told the story for years.

And it has been confirmed I will be going on the Old Mill hunt in June! I'm excited and will hopefully have fun and maybe even have an experience and get some great pictures. We'll see!

I haven't had any scary things happen to me (thankfully). A few of my family members have had a few off things happen but nothing crazy.

I believe that spirits are out there for sure!

I also learned from some TV show ( :rolleyes: ) that you can take spirits home with you from haunted places. :eek:

1. you do not need fancy recodring instraments
2. you should have everyone that is there say something in a normal tone of voice, especially the person that is going to be doing the talking, to verify that it is not you or someone else whispering or mumbling. you can use this time to state the date and time and location of the filming, info that is good to know.
3. to me it sounded like "come to me"

there was an old school house just outside of one of the townships near here. my friends and I used to frequent it about once every two or three weeks a few summers ago. there was always freaky shit happening there, ranging from ouija board conversations to random noises and sightings, and pictures of orbs.

the freakiest time was once when we took my friend gina there. she weighs at most 130lbs. Nothing was happening so we all got tired of waiting so one of my friends yelled out, "if anyone is here show yourself!" and almost immediately after that gina started choking and couldnt move. we all freaked two of my bigger friends tried to pick her up and carry her out but couldnt move her, while the others ran for the front door and tried to pry it open but couldn't get it to budge. this whole occurence happened for maybe 5 minutes and suddenly gina was fine(freaked the fuck out, but fine) and the door moved freely. if i wasnt there, i wouldn't have believed it happened. I've never had something like this happen before.

my last roommate had a problem of being haunted. she thinks by a demon. she had several occurances in our last place where her dog would start whining for no reason and start watching "nothing" move around the edges of the ceiling. her bed would randomly be shifted, like someone came up and pushed it. and she said twice, while i was at work for the night she'd hear something hit the bedroom door like an empty can or a cup. I thought she was crazy, i never heard or saw anything, but she adamantly believes she was being haunted. either that or she believed her dog was being haunted, because when all of this was going on if he'd go under her bed it would all stop.

Though Kay's cross is only about 3 miles from my house, yet I have never been there. hmmmm....

only place in america that makes even a person like me nervous about visiting is a lake in New York State called "Lake Ronkonkoma" which is in Long Island. It has a very freaky curse legend/spirit that has historical evidence to back it up.

Another one of my favorite stories happened along a road by the vermont/mass border

Takes place in the 60s and has a couple traveling late at night down to to mass to visit family or something along those lines. The radio is going listening in on a Red Sox baseball game coverage when all the sudden it starts to fizzle out to nothing but static. And out of no where the couple sees 2 motels side by side with blaring neon lights out in the middle of no where. one having no vacancy and other having vacancy. They don't bother stopping and just keep on their way and soon after the radio comes right back on.
On their way back days later once again night fall approaching they thought about the motels they came across on the way down and planned on stopping for the night at one of them. Only to find when they reached their location... there were only 2 empty lots like nothing was ever there.

there's 2 stories to it but the one i like the best is the reason for the stain you see below the name on the stone in which locals claim to resemble part of a leg and a foot.
The stain is from a witch who placed a curse on the gentlemen placed here stating that she would forever stomp on his tombstone. and no matter what the town did (cleaning, grinding down, even replacing the whole stone) they couldn't get rid of the stain.

there are 2 roting away trains in the middle of the woods. Yes full size old locomotives just sitting there.

Reason for this is back in the old days they use to cut down trees there and haul them back to mills and such. And thats all these trains did. The Lumber company went out of buisness and left the trains right where they sat and the state of maine never bothered to take them out.

A lot of weird things are our house that was custom built in 2001-2002.

My Gpa (moms dad) comes to visit my mom every so often. Like right before my parents divorced she was driving down the road and could feel his hand on top of hers. HE also said he wouldn't be around as much b/c everything will be alright.

My brother died in 2003 and he comes to check on her also. She has told me numerous times how he stands at the end of her bed or sits and talks to her. He told her he had a lot of traveling to do.

Moms ex-fiance who died of skin cancer and moms gpa also tend to visit.
She says sometimes the whole group will be outside her bedroom window and talk or just sit there.

I tell her to keep it to herself b/c that stuff freaks me out. I said my brother would be the one to do something scary to make me scream.

My gf had some scary dreams and seeing this right when we got together but those have gone away. Like when she was using the potty the towels just started moving.

My best friend Kevin said he thought he was following me into my bedroom to have nothing be there when he walked in.

Awhile back I had this nightmare where the world was going to end and I think everything was on fire. I felt like I couldn't wake up but when I did I was sweating and all out of breath.

Some recent odd goings on at my house

I have noticed a few times one of the rocking chairs out on the front porch raocking on it's own, while the other right next to it stands still.
Then Eric was trying to light the grill yesterday, it wouldn't light so I grabbed matches. I had them to Eric and even though he turned the gas off while I grabbed the matches adn barely turned it back on before stricking the match about 3 feet above the grill. And there was a fireball as if he left the gas on and it was left on and accumilating in the air.
I mentioned to Eric that it was a sign from his Dad that passed away last Feb. He's Dad used to sit in the hot tub and on too many occations I would go out to light the grill and even though it never fireballed I always jumped back as if it did and he would laugh and laugh. Then he said that the passed few days while he was working in the yard the sprinklers would turn on out of nowhere. (His Dad had a passion for working in the yard, specially with his family. He also loved sitting on the porch in the rocking chairs.
It was all just interesting.

but my Ghost Hunters side has questions for that.

Ghost hunting weird things like that not debunking them and calling them fake cause they can most certainly be but outdoor when stuff's moving theres so many elements that factor in.

Thats why those shows you see are filmed in a house with closed windows and any heat or AC or fans usually turned off and let the air settle down so they can work with a completely flat scenario meaning if something moves.... you can't factor anything into it. 99% of the time it has to be paranormal cause how can air move it if theres no air really moving ya know.

When ghost hunting outside best tools for someone is a tape recorder (go out and buy a digital one) and a thermal camera (i know super expensive and pretty much unless you work in a scientific field or work for a movie production team its only use will be just for ghost hunting) so you can track heat signatures. EMF's are worthless out side cause once again a million factors floating around.

So subiemommy. If you wanna really dive into gathering some cool evidence for people like myself and other paranormal fans grab some stuff to record these happenings! Plus makes great thing to sit down at a party with and be like "you guys will never believe what i've seen"

With the grill I figured it was nothing really, but found it funny that the one thing his
Dad actually would laugh at was me freaking at the grill, when nothing happened, so it was a funny coincodence. The sprinklers aren't on a timer or anything that would malfunction, which is why I questioned that occurance.
As for the chairs, when one is rocking full bore and the other is perfectly still and they sit within a foot of each other, it seems odd that wind would only hit the one chair. It has actually happened both with wind and without, one moves and one doesn't. Seems weird that it would be something else, ya know.

I also don't want to ghost hunt my FIL (LoL) or I would borrow my Mother's TIC to get those thermal images.

another super cool story that actually has documents to back it up for evidence comes from Long Island NY (and i think some of you ladies are from that area so help me out here)

Lake Ronkonkoma a summer hot spot for Long Island NY
but has a very grim and spooky past.

The lake was according to the story named after a native american princess who fell in love with a white settler (a Pocahontas style story) but was forbidden to be with this man due to her father. They would sneak out and send messages back and forth to one another by way of the lake in which the princess would row her canoe half way and float the message the rest of hte way. Went on for a while until the princess couldn't handle the relationship anymore and finally sent a farewell message. She committed suicide and her canoe with her body washed up on shore with the message... Heart broken the man committed suicide as well.

Now fast forward years later... the story goes that the lake is haunted and cursed by the princess who's spirit is still angry. every year for the past 200 years according to accounts and documentation one male has drowned in the lake (up untill i think the 70s or 80s though). People who survived this report back the feeling of being dragged by someone under water.

Very strange... very real. Happy swimming New York......

My Mom's house is very haunted!

I remember being home alone once at the age of 15, when I was heading down to my basement bedroom and felt a firm hand on my back and was then pushed down the stairs. I didn't tumble or trip, I was in the air off the ground before falling a foot or two to the next step and down the rest of the way down.
On a few occations I saw a little girl, and without mantioning it to anyone they too would bring up the presence of a young girl.
At a small get together my younger sister took a picture of her friend smoking a cigar (which makes it questionable) and in the smoke is the perfect face of the girl I have seen many times. When she showed me the picture, she didn't mention the face in the smoke and I instantly got goosebumps and felt tight in the chest.
While curled up next to the heater one day with my sister, we were the only 2 in the house, we heard a laughing come from the vent.
I recall on many occations to seeing blue orbs floating around my room, and no I never did drugs that could've cause this! LoL

I'll have to think of more, though I think all my scary experiences have been in my Mom's house! haha

The first one was okay, kinda creepy in a few spots(flour on the floor anyone?) but I didn't fancy the ending. I'm going to wait til the second one comes out for rental. :)

But I've been desensitized to scary things after watching way too much Paranormal state, TAPS etc.

Personally, I believe in some sort of spirit/ghost concept out there. Whether or not any one religion or belief has the whole story or not, theres stuff out there. :D

where has this thread been? I love this kind of stuff. My friends and i go out to creepy places all the time and try to find stuff. we have had some crazy things happen but no physical evidence has been obtained yet. one day we will get our proof though

i used to like horror and action movies a lot more than i do now. guess i'm turning into an old softie lol. :D my favorites are dramas and mystery/suspense as long as they aren't too much like soap operas or just shoot-'em-ups full of explosions.

So idk if i'm haunted or just crazy lol. But occasionally i'll wake up in the middle of the night and see a man standing over me. It happened twice at my parents. The first time he was standing right over my bed and I started screaming bloody murder, the second time there he was standing by the door. It happened again at my old place and he was standing by the closet, and just two nights ago I woke up at my bf's and he was standing at the foot of the bed. When I see him I try and think rationally like maybe i'm still half asleep, but I can move fine and I stare at him for a while.

It really creeps me out but I don't think there's anything I can do, either i'm hallucinating or it's real. Either option isn't very good lol.

If he is following you around maybe he isn't a ghost but a gaurdian angel? Just a thought, a brighter side to this guy always being there.

I think if it was an angel it wouldn't make me terrified though. When I see him it makes me sick i'm so scared. I've heard saging is a good way of cleansing places, I might just try that.

buy a cheap generic video camera

and buy a digital voice recorder

probably looking at no more then 200 bucks if your aren't picky about it

video to capture visual evidence

and voice recorder to record any odd audio in the enviroment

Yeah kind of like the paranormal activity movies. I just saw the second one last night, it really scared me. So far nothing physical has happened to until there's concrete proof i'll just wait I think. But i'm still gonna sage the house lol.

Oo I just saw the second one last night too. I only saw one of the endings and luckily it was the one that connects the two movies. It was okay, thought the first was better.

I along with a few other people who have came over and are allowed upstairs, have said that there is a very creepy vibe in our bedrooms. I will randomly feel freezing pockets of air come around me and then go away and I just know theres something there... freaks me the hell out at night. I wish I knew the history in this house. Ive noticed in the basement that there are tooons of of US historical books copywritten back in the late 1800's early 1900's covered in dust along with other really old weird crap, so who knows how old this place is and who's died in there...

Mon, if I were you I would lookinto the house through city records. First t hing is to find the exact location of the house, not the street address, if the house is old enough the street address may have changed so you are better off with the longitude/laditude info. I have been trying to find stuff on my Mom's place and it has not turned anything creepy up at all.

Those are called foot stones. They are used in family plots where there is usually one big headstone (typically with the family's last name) to designate who is buried there.

now that we've been settled into our new home... we've got some creepy stuff going on...

background story:

i grew up in a house that was built in the 1800s. we know of 4 people who passed away in the house. i know for sure there was an old woman but i don't know anything about the other 3. my bedroom was attached to a room my parents renovated (bad idea in an old house). i ALWAYS had the feeling there was someone else watching my brother, sister and i playing. i figured it was just because we had friends over a lot so i felt like maybe we weren't including someone because of that. when i moved out of that house for good, my stuff went directly into a storage unit where it's stayed until we bought the house.

before we moved ANYTHING into the house, i went through and did a cleansing with sea salt, chamomile and i burned sage to keep anything "bad" out. we put all my old stuff in the basement in a little room. i started to go through some of it and then some creepy stuff started happening.

i was home alone with my pups getting ready for work. i had taken them outside and was about to feed them. all of a sudden, i heard someone whistling the old spice theme. i thought it was weird but thought whatever. after i fed the pups and was going to get my ipod, i heard it AGAIN. keep in mind, i had the dock in my sights BOTH times (it was off) and we didn't have cable or internet yet. then a few days later, dan had the radio in the bathroom while he was showering and it turned off. when he got out of the shower, he turned it back on and the battery on his iphone and the dock were full.

to make a long story short, we had someone come over and when she let her guard down, it brought her directly to the room where all my stuff from the storage unit was. she said it's the kind of spirit that doesn't just want to be, it has to attach itself to someone. we're thinking i may have brought it with me because there is no way i felt ANYTHING when we bought the house. after i moved my stuff in, that's when i felt it.

we also got a photo (which is on my FB, i don't want to post it on subiegirls because the photo contains my friend's kid) that has a green "orb-ish" light in it. it wasn't there when we took the photo.

either way, we are going to do another cleansing. i guess i need to be cleansed as well because it was def attached to me at first. hopefully we can get it to go away.

He comes running back to me and shouts "he's gonna die!!" clear as day. I repeated it back to him as a question and he responded "yes." and nodded his head. And wandered into the kitchen.

I told my mon about it. She's hard of hearing so doesn't hear everything. She then proclaims. "you were about his age when you started seeing ghosts."

She always tells me the story of how we drove by this house and I said "mommy why is the barn on fire?" she looked and the barn was fine. Not on fire. She responds "hunny the barn is not on fire". She then drove by a few days later and it had burned down to the ground. To this day my mom swears I'm psychic.

Recently I have been hearing someone call my name in random places. Man's voice whispering. I turn around and there is no one.

I've always felt spirits so for me this is nothing unusual. I think people walk around in our kitchen when I am working on my photos in the basement. I hear the chairs move all the time. We have two cats but I know they dont cause that much ruccous.

Anyways. Cool stories but good luck. Speaking of sage, I think I need to cleanse my car. I feel as though someone has cursed me with a bad luck streak...

I'll have to post (if I ever get my computer back) the pictures I have from a ghots "hunt" I attended that have me questioning what the heck it was! I took a seccetion of like 5 pictures, in the 1st nothing, in the next a small orange light, then the light trailed off one way, in the next pic it had turned and went another way, in the last pic it looks like it is wrapping around one of the other people's legs, then the last pic it was gone. But no one ever saw anything as I took the pics.
