Hey guys. So I have a job interview on Thursday at a local bank for the position of a teller. This is a job that I really want and I was hoping you guys might be able to help me out. What kind of questions should I ask? and what questions should I be prepared to answer?

Burn off your fingerprints before you go and ask a lot of questions about their security system(s) and safeguards against money laundering.

i always like to ask if there is room to grow within a company and what kind of programs do they offer for those who do... for instance, tuition assistance.

My boyfriend is a bank teller at the same bank and he wants me to get this job at a different branch. I've never been in the banking industry. Do you have any suggestions of what I should ask as it pertains to being a bank teller?

Too be honest - no - that's why I didn't post any.
You don't want to ask obvious questions - like about security.... I feel like the answeres will all be told to you when you get the job. Banks have lots of room to move up. Ask about that and as Jess suggested maybe they want a certain education to go with those jobs.
As stated above you need to prove to them why you're the best canidate. You're handling money that isn't yours, you have to deal with privacy, legal stuff, fraud, etc. While I found it to be a simple/fun job - there are a lot of important things you have to deal with on a daily basis.
I worked in retail so customer service and money handling was clearly a skill I already had developed. If you have any experience like that - use it to your advantage! I also held retail management positions so responsibility was something had I in my bag of tricks too.
I hope that helps! :)

Thanks a lot. For the most part all I've really doesn't is retail customer service. So I have a lot of money handling and customer service training. I feel as though I should be able to get the job.

If you get the job just remember to take a thing of hand sanitizers to work with you. Trust me on this, money is down right disgusting and probably one of the worst things you can handle on a day-to-day basis.
I used to work in the cash vault for Fleet/Bank of America, and by the end of the day my hands would be black. :unamused:
No clue how I never got sick at that job...

I've worked in retail for 4 years plus me I know how gross it is. Plus my boyfriend is a bank teller currently. I've heard horror stories.
When speaking about yourself, include, that being as you have worked in retail/ cash handling in the past, you understand the importance of paying attention to detail, and that you are comfortable with your cash handling skills. Maybe say something about having good math skills. Say that you understand that they have strict guidelines and regulations and that you are comfortable with yourself and your skills set in being able to comply to the strict regulations enforced in a bank setting, etc...
