So my car is on stage 2 with downpipe, catback exhaust, bigger intercooler but i have the stock turbo in it still that just went out on it. My my bf plugged in his romraider and it was reading boost error and stuff and we have come to conclusion that it def is gone cuz im puffin out blue smoke now so what do yall think i should do for an upgrade its a bit confusing cuz bf wants to put his 20 g on it but right now i just need the car for my daily driver until school is over then i wanna make it all about the power but i def wanna upgrade to bigger anyway wat yall think i should get?

Why not upgrade now. I mean even with a bigger turbo its still a safe daily driver (as long as you dont have an extremely heavy foot!). We have an FP green pushing 18lbs of boost, on a DD conventional tune right now. Its a great daily driver w/ some x-tra umph lol. U could always have someone tune it to be as aggressive or as least aggressive as you'd like. Why pay for a stock to then later pay more money for an upgraded turbo. I'd go for it!

Save the money, upgrade now if you already know you want to go bigger. But know that if your going to be upgrading the turbo, it is a good idea to get protuned as well. The car will be happier and so will you! :D

I have a rather large turbo on mine, and I still daily drive it.

If you put the 20g on you need to upgrade the injectors. Your stock sti intercooler is not ideal for the 20g. Your still going to be into it at least $800 with tune and injectors, plus you still have the stock intake and thats not going to work. I have a stock TD04 with 45,000miles that I can sell you for $150. Just bolt it on and your good to go!

Needless to say, bigger turbo is easier said then done.

whats rather large? i have a gt35 on my sti that i use to daily drive....and i know others on island who daily drive their 35 as well....its all about the tune. people are scared of the 35 because they think there will be turbo lag, but its all in the tune...

don't forget about the down side to going bigger. If it's your daily driver and you need it to get to and from work, think about gas mileage as well as those days that you go to leave for work and it wont start or something is wrong and it's running like crap. Turbo swaps always sound like a great idea but just take into consideration the good and the bad.

true that....but if its done right, no problems. both of my turbo swapped cars have absolutely no issues. theyve started every single day-no problems. and both cars have never ran like crap...i think thats bad tuning, no? but the gas mileage part is correct...my sti got terrible miles...i swear my wrx gets 10 more miles a gallon!
