So, when I bought my car it had 06 tails, which I'm not too fond of. So in an attempt to cover them up, I tinted them. Recently I've been getting a lot of tickets for them, so I had my friend help me out with that..

We mixed some red dye with some clear coat and went at it.. We just prepped them by wet sanding them and did 3 even coats and this is how it turned out. I love them, and I haven't been pulled over since I've had them on.. *knocks on wood*
Just wanted to share this idea with you guys, just incase anyone was looking for an alternative to tinting your tail lights. AND! If you live anywhere near Utah, my friend Quin will do them for a really great price.

That sucks they had to go! I'm a huge fan of smoked tails. But tickets suck :( Def not worth wasting all that money in fines :) Good job!

I've been thinking of doing something similar for my wagon tails (with "stained glass" paint) since I don't like all the clear on them...I had someone photoshop them but I'll have to edit that pic in later since I'm in class right now. I'm still debating whether I want to do it.
(Oh and I really like how yours came out) :D

My worthless .02.
I tried all the stained glass stuff and it all sucked. Either looked like Bozo the clowns nose, or you couldn't see through it, or it came of or ARGGHHH
I found DupliColor Metalcast Anodized Red is PERFECT!!!! I HIGHLY recommend it for tinting the whole thing or sections or whatever.

Looks good Kristina.
Adam, I think I like your tails so much b/c of the other red accents.

Thanks guys. :) Yeah, this picture makes them look a lot lighter than they really are, they are pretty close to the color of Adam's.

I toooooootally agree.
And I finally dug up the pic I had someone 'shop for me. This is what I'm kinda considering doing...and yes, I insist upon still having clear reverse lights since I live on a street with parallel parking and I want it to be really obvious I'm going to back up before I start rolling a bunch. (Bicycles already try to ride into me all the time argh)

I'm not sure! Hahaha. I prefer the 04/05 tails to the 06/07 tails. I think I'm leaning more toward "meh" but as Mon said - to each their own. :)
