Feeler for a Tri-State Meet

Hey girls:
I want to post a FEELER thread to see who would be down for a Subiegirls Tri-State Meet. I feel the meet should be around September, when the weather isn't so brutal and after Labor day so we won't have to deal with parking/paying and big crowds.

Let me know if you are interested so I can get a list started. Suggestions for places would also be appreciated, since I am only familiar with places on Long Island.

there has never been a tri-state meet before so i'm trying to set one up.. i'm still not sure where abouts to have it but probably not in the city because of parking and the rough potholey roads... either long island or right outside the city upstate or NJ

Yes, it will most likely be on a saturday or sunday, whichever day most people can make it :)

I'm in! I'm busy the last week in July and I'm moving the last week in September, but other than that I'm open...

I vote for outside the city for sure. We should probably finalize a location soonish, it may help people decide, plus then we can start planning the specifics. Would anyone want to get a hotel if they're going to stay over?

We were actually thinking of EFI in CT, which is about 1hr- 1 1/2hrs from NYC
But it is all up in the air right now. Northern Jersey would work too since that is central for everyone. I just don't know any place in NJ besides Englishtown lol

well I'm not a girl but I can put my hair in a pony tail if that helps :) Im a regular visitor to EFI myself. Great guys up there they do all the work on my car I dont do myself

But this needed a bump. Once WBM is over we were thinking about doing a 'shop-series' where we had meets and shops and they taught us how to do stuff. EFI doesn't know it but they are on our list. :)

Greenwood Lake Airport in NJ right at the border with NY.

It's a little cute place with a cafe that is only open until 4pm ... but open during the weekend. If you are looking for a night-meet, this is not the place.

If you are, this place is nice and quaint. You can eat while watching planes take off and land.

I was there a couple of years ago when I had to fly in a replacement fuel pump for a friend that got stuck there (his Cessna's fuel pump gave up the ghost right before takeoff ... not after, thank God). It's a pain in the butt to land there and it's even more hair-raising to take off from there but you girls are driving ... so you don't have to worry about it.

And if you are into airplanes they have a Connie there too and i think you can walk in it! (Lockheed Constellation, for those who don't know).

One more things, I used to be a pilot and used to fly to cute little airports with restaurants on the field (you have no idea how many there are) ...

Mostly I was flying in the eastern PA/NJ areas ... never spend time upstate ... too crowded for my taste (too much airtraffic and controllers are cranky SOBs).

If you ever want any tips on nice places to go eat and gather, as long as there's no burning rubber, racing or other car-related horseplay, those places tend to be family oriented, quiet and sleepy and the best part of it all is that you get to eat and watch small planes come in and out all day long.

More than willing to share the list of airport with restaurants if you are interested in organizing meets there.

Again ... keep in mind: these places are quiet and mostly family oriented ...

Oxford airport in Oxford CT has a nice place to eat at the airport. except mojitos there as well... its hanger 151 or 131 or some other number...

I'm flying up to PA this weekend. Have a Subaru SVX Annual Car meet in Morgantown, PA. (couldn't afford vacation to drive up) It's a 2 day meet starting tomorrow evening until sunday morning.

If any of you girls are nearby, it would be great to meet you! :D

I def think a meet during this nice weather is a must! Weather it be on a track day at wall or e town a mall or whatever, the girls in my old crew used to plan mall meets, mini golf bbqs even beach for photo shoots or even a pure romance get together (naughty I know but were all women) lol. So many ideas to plan. Don't wait till sept!
