So right now I am sitting at my local Subaru dealership waiting for oil change #2 to be done. Yep, #2. What happened? I made an appointment for Dan's car to have the oil changed and he only puts synthetic in it. The girl who made the appointment didn't ask if that's what I wanted and I didn't think to tell her. I also figured they mustve known because we have been bringing his car here for quite some time and have ALWAYS put synthetic in it. So I dropped the car off first thing and around 1115 they pick me up to get it. I go to check out and when she tells me it is only $29.95 I freeeeak out. They keep joking with me "just don't tell him! What he doesn't know won't hurt!" They assure me its fine when I keep saying that Dan is going to be upset. They laughed at me, too but whatevs. So I leave and call a couple of other places and they all say it is fine. I called Dan and told him and of course he was upset but there wasn't much he could do. But then I ask a couple of people on the NES Blackberry chat and they say noooo way don't take that answer! I ended up calling back and getting a NEW appointment. When I asked to only pay the difference between synthetic and conventional the guy literally raised his eye brow but the manager said it was fine. Luckily, it should be all set and they fixed Dan's account to show synthetic only. I am glad the dealership fixed it but it still sucked!

And please, do not flame me for partially making a mistake in assuming they knew. Its a 50/50 fault.

thats crazy! i dont use synthetic in my car, and it was a fight to get them not to put it in at a monro autoshop. i cant believe they didnt just do that automatically. Im happy that it wasnt a real hard problem to fix, and they didnt charge you double.

Do u know if they flushed the regular oil out of the whole motor or did they just drain it?

Changing out regular oil with synthetic is totally fine. They can mix. Sorry for bumping such an old thread!
